Does anybody know about part-time instructors? For example, how much flexibility there is in the schedule...I know there are a few Fedex pilots working there on their days off, so I believe there would be some flexibility in how sim instructors are scheduled. Last time I was in recurrent there, about 6 months ago, the instructors (when pressed) were not all that happy because they were working very hard. Naturally, they were professional, not complaining or anything like that to the customers, but you could tell it was taking its toll on them.

I know of several part-time instructors. Scheduling seems to be very flexible with them. A few are active airline pilots, that are able non-rev from all over. I can say for a fact these guys burn out quick. The most senior guy I know has been there 7 years, but the typical life span seems to be within a year. It's no wonder, because these guys have to teach the same exact profiles at the same exact airports day in and day out and of course in the end really aren't flying. If your in a busy aircraft, you can be sure that you'll have a few 10:30pm - 4:30am slots.
