Default Piggy Back - King Air 350 SIC Salary?

Got a job offer for SIC in a King Air 350 ~ starting $65K w/ 1 year training contract, seems pretty reasonable to me. But I could be smoking crack, thus, reaching out to you folks for some advice. Dangerous I know

In this market I don’t think a training contract should be signed. But if it’s skmething you want and understand the contract and have no better offers I’d say go for it. But some things you want to know about the contract. Is it pro rated? How much is the penalty if you leave early? Why do they feel they need a contract?

Sometimes (not always!) companies will use training contracts because they are losing pilots who haven’t been there long and are trying to protect their investment. The biggest thing I’d want to figure out is the last question. Why do they need a contract? There could be many reasons why. I’d see if you could ask some current and former employees to get an idea of what you are jumping into.

Good luck

Smile Piggy Back - Cirrus Vision Jet and onward

Resurrecting an old thread but the title is most relevant. I took a sales job with the owner knowing that I'm a pilot and wanting me to eventually be his corporate pilot in addition to sales duties. The company plane seems to be finally coming to fruition in the next few weeks, so I wanted to start getting my ducks in a row for negotiation.

The initial plane will likely be a cirrus SR-22T followed quickly by or in addition to a vision jet. The owner is a check-ride away from his PPL and wants to build up to flying the vision jet himself as well. He wants me to build up to fly the next larger one, likely a CJ4 or Phenom (something bigger but without the dual pilot requirement). I was a Navy helo guy, but with a couple of hundred hours of fixed-wing time. I would need to get the type rating for the vision jet, and still need to do my multi and a type rating before I could do the CJ4, etc.

What would be a fair starting point for salary, and is there a typical amount for per diem/benefits/etc.? Am I forgetting/ignorant of any other requirements in the process of going from CSEL/HEL INST to flying a dual jet?

Thanks!

Whatever the numbers, you need to have two separate salaries. One for your sales job and a separate one
as the pilot.
