Good write up, and yes you are thrown onto the line without any knowledge of bidding and reserve haha. The good thing is you'll mostly start flying with other reserve captains so they'll help you out and don't hesitate to email ALPA PBS committee for help. There's also a bidding strategy pdf on the ALPA website that shows you how to do basic bidding strategies and explains what all the options do. Hopefully you have a group text with your classmates because that's a great way to gather and spread information. I'm sure most of us on here wouldn't mind if you wanted to PM any questions but posting on here should get most everything explained. Welcome aboard and may your AM ready reserve be few and far between.

I am officially seconding this post and I guess thirding Fgrosoli. Nice write ups, I definitely would highlight that reserve captains are good resources for contract questions, shady sounding assignments, 117, and other issues. Pick their brain, in fact, my advice, find a captain who is cool that you can quickly text if you get a weird sounding assignment that you're unsure of.
A great captain who is now gone, naturally, spent like 2-3 hours helping me learn how bid layers worked when I was new.. (yes I am that dumb).. and I have been trying to pay it forward ever since (or cents?) Congrats on finishing training and we'll see you out on the line!
PM me as well if you need anything...

Really great to see the email from AO and the company looking into the AAC issues I posted about a few days ago. Hopefully there is a change.

Any FLL commuters in here that are lax based? I’m heading to FLL next week to visit some family and I’m trying to figure out the easiest way there and back. Doesn’t look like there are many direct flights Unless I’m just not looking right....?
