Compass Updates - Saga Continues

You know Delta asks (as an interview question) what you'd do as a new hire FO if you saw the captain not wearing their hat, or if you're the Captain and the FO is not wearing theirs.
The idea behind the question is to see how you'd handle the situation, or act as a crew member in general (think of it as an A hole check- is this guy one).
First you should inquire, hey where's your hat? (maybe they had something going on at home that caused them to forget the hat etc) Assuming why a person does something is never a good idea. Maybe they do indeed feel like the FOM is dated, and they don't want to wear it, but it's possible that they lost it, or forgot it.
Once you have determined the reason, then you can move forward. If they are going against FOM you can politely point it out and go from there. Escalte it methodically without throwing the guy under the bus immediately... running to management is a dick move.

I would tell the interviewer that I would inquire about said hat to protect my fellow crew member but if he is combative about it, he made his decision to not follow procedures and he is responsible for that when he does get in trouble. I did as much as I could to resolve the problem.
It's not a safety concern so it doesn't need to be escalated.

There's always gonna be weirdos that slip through the cracks that are little tattle tale babies and are too socially inept to talk to another man or woman, just help make sure they keep going to SkyWest and or can't get to mainline. Happy thanksgiving to the compass brothas and sistas stuck working today.
Also be careful what you wish for, someone might take your advice and keep you from going to mainline.

No, but let's say you fly with someone that has connections in the right place at Delta or another legacy and they don't like you for whatever reason. Then they get you blacklisted. It could be something simple and petty (which they don't tell you about), but now it's your application vs 'do not hire' by your name.

Vacation bidding question: Can you only bid for specific weeks off with Ascension? Say I only need 3 days and the first 2 are on week 3, the next day is on week 4. I have to bid both weeks off to get these 3 days off, am I understanding this correctly?

A. Wearing of the uniform will be limited to when on duty, when on special assignment or when in transit to or from duty.
B. PICs and SICs will only wear a complete uniform as described below. Other items are not authorized.
D. Uniform combinations or variations other than those stipulated below are not authorized.
6-16-6
Hat
A. Compass Airlines hat emblem and hardware as sold by the designated Company uniform supplier will be worn when the pilot is in public outside the aircraft.
It’s crystal clear in the FOM. Either you’re in compliance or you’re knowingly breaking FOM.
Yes, no one should get reported or in trouble for this.
But honestly? No one should ever have to report it, or discipline someone for it; because it should simply never happen. It is so easy to control that it should be an impossibility. We’re airline pilots, not 14 year old girls fighting the school dress code. This shouldn’t be an issue, especially with Captains. Obviously it is becoming a problem, so the company is enforcing it.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

You can only apply those three days off to one week, you can't carry them over. It's something unfortunately that's a weekness in our contract. Other airlines have contract language that would apply to your request, unfortunately our contract is a young one. I'd suggest you choose a week where you want your vacation to start from the beginning of the week and try to bid (that month in PBS) the days off leading up to that week you requested in the vacation bid...I.E. Bid Week 4, request those 2 days off in your bid on PBS
