So what is the issue with hats? Do they want you to wear it inside the jet or something? And even worse, why are crews snitching on each other instead of having a civilized conversation?

It’s these 20 something millennials. People in the industry used to self-police. If they had an issue, they dealt with it amongst themselves. No one EVER went straight to mgmt and stabbed each other in the back. The people that seem to nit pick stuff like that, or anything tiny for that matter, are usually the ones that struggle to fly the airplane and do a good, safe job. Instead, they feel the need to make up for their shortcomings by stabbing each other over stuff that isn’t worth getting a reputation over. They need to remember that they’re going to make mistakes themselves, and better not complain if someone does the same thing to them. Maybe pro-stands should put something out in the ALPA fast read explaining to the new hires what they should/should not go to mgmt over. They need to be educated that this is adult stuff, we don’t tattle tale anymore.

I disagree on that it's only a 20 something millennial type problem. The average age of a compass pilot is 29 so there's a lot of pilots here in their early to mid 20s and are nothing but the utmost professionals. Whenever something like this happens we all hear about and as far as I know this is the first such case since the issue we had over a year ago with the 12 hour rule thing. So thankfully it doesn't seem to be a ramapnt issue of people tattling. However I 100% agree that this issue needs to be specifically address by the union on a company wide level as well when they introduce themselves to New hire classes on ALPA pizza lunch day in MSP their first week.

Pro standards is not the hat and shoe shine police, they don’t want to hear about that crap. Matter of fact, there are only a handful of people at this company that can enforce uniform compliance. Hey kids, If you have an issue that your colleague isn’t wearing their uniform per the FOM, guess who you tell.....THEM

I've always wanted to say....

"This^^"

Just warms my heart.

But what's even more shocking to me than the hat issue is this reference to an "ALPA pizza lunch".. whoa whoa whoa, what is this?!? I don't remember this?!?! Absolutely un-believable. Somebody owes me free lunch.

I'll tell you what's stopping them, Delta...duh!!! That's if we are specifically talking about them? Why would you hire off the street when you have a controlled process? Your paying for three training events potentially, Think outside the box a little bud...and if you think Delta wants DGI at endeavor talk to anyone in flight ops management at Delta at a career fair, they are very anti-flow, anti guaranteed interview, it's a play to put butts in seats to guarantee their wholly owned regional feed

Naw I've always been cheap, I once requested a price match for a cliff bar at MSP. It was pay day so I was treating myself.

It's just from years of being so broke. I used to have to save up to be poor!

must be a millennial thing
Triggered

What a lazy, over used, and stupid line of reasoning. That’s just like hearing “oh LAX pilots are unprofessional” Just beceause someone was born in a certain year (or picked a certain base) doesn’t dictate their behavior. Just like it always has been, each individual is different. Most guys are cool as could be but there will always be some that are FOM hall monitors. Always have been, always will be. But oh, it must be to so fun for those of us that are 5-10 years older to pass it off as a label applying to whole generation

That said, I agree, reporting stuff like that to standards is absurd.

It also should be said that some CAs here are a little too comfortable in their seat and at times are embarrassingly unprofessional in front of passengers and station crews. Rather than labeling all Generation Y guys as unprofessional jerks that set bad examples, we can be mature enough to say that 99.5% are safe pilots, great guys, and patient/helpful mentors, while maybe that .5% should grow up.

Hope no one takes that as a jab, just an example
