Had steve in initial in January systems/IPT. Kicked the crap out of us
"No! Leave it in VNAV."
"Yep- you're right sorry"
"I KNOW I'm right"
But man we learned our ****!
He was talking about how he only had a few weeks left at compass before retirement

I have had Ray several times, zero problems. He is just an old man who loves to share his knowledge. You just gotta cooperate to graduate with guys like that. I also have three copies of Captain Ray's 13 commandments.

Did anyone notice in one of the latest PRFs how we are consolidating FREQs to only one for Eagles Nest Traffic. However for things like cleaners, catering, etc. they want us to Contact LAX Envoy on 131.45. That is also Delta Ramp frequency. Am I missing something here?

Just finished up four legs with 4 different crews as a js observer. I have to say that if these crews I have flown with are an accurate representation of the airline I'm going to be happier than a pig in ****. You guys and gals are blessed to be flying with such individuals......from what I have gathered a very professional group, very friendly, motivated, eager to teach.....but easy going, and fun group. I have made the right decision in my ripe old age to join Compass.

Our failure rate is below 5% of initial...Ray is not an APD anymore and hasn't been for sometime so you wont get him for your LOE...even then there are people that have a higher failure rate than Ray. Ray is extremely fair and he has a ton of experience, you'll walk away from every event you ever do with him and learn something...you can't say that about a lot of airline instructors...
When I was hired in early 2015, only about 1 in 10 failed their LOEs. Compass is aware they are not getting the quality of applicants they were getting back then and it shows. Some blokes come to training at Compass with a sense of entitlement that is pretty unhealthy at times.
Initial went smooth for me because I stayed behind and studied my ass off when everyone else went home or went to drink themselves stupid, and those were the ones who struggled.
Compass knows you’ll be back in 18 months to upgrade and due to that being an short time relatively speaking at a below average sized regional, they just wanna make sure you work for that PIC type rating, which I think is fair.
Training IS hard for those without 121 background but nothing no one can handle as long as they put in the time.
