My advice as the best student Compass has ever had, is to stay one week ahead of everything. Know all your GOS crap when you go in, then study for the systems during the first week, study procedures and flows during fms/systems class. Also that first Friday when you're introduced to the fms computer program come in on the weekend to mess around with the fms especially if you've never used one. Know all our flows before IPTs so you can focus on systems, and once you're ready for SV be studying the procedures. Being one step ahead makes the training a lot easier because some instructors will hold your hand while the...ahem..."older" guys usually assume you know everything already and teach you the next step rather than the lesson for that day. All in all not too bad and they will work with you if you need a little extra time, but it's much easier and faster just to be prepared and get through everything 100%.

Edit: Also to add you should be able to find the IPT schedule in the training office so you can show up during the off times to load it up and practice with an IPT sim with your partner. Make sure to ask an instructor the first IPT day how to start it up, fix it when it freaks out, shut it down, and how to call mx when it screws up cause those things can be touchy.

The 70% is accurate considers the class sizes at the time of the washout rate

I'm hearing many are failing lessons and LOE's and LOFT's.
And, accordingly, the schoolhouse is getting backed-up because of Prog Checks.

Why the failures.....****ty training? Lack of experience? That's ridiculous. I've heard that it's a fire hose, fend for yourself deal. This is sad......there is not one major who would treat its new hires like this.....maybe Spirit. I have spoken with many guys and gals at the majors who said Compass training was nothing more than a wash out machine.......go to Compass, and never get hired any where else.

It’s due to lack of putting on the effort on the new hires part. Our training department doesn’t hold your hand through training, just like your mom didn’t once your turned into an adult and moved out. If the new hire shows up for an event and doesn’t know the flows, call outs and/or just flat out can’t handle the workload and continues to struggle throughout training with no progress, then ya your gonna get washed out. Your not gonna keep your dog in the house if it keeps crapping on the floor after numerous attempts to training it to go outside are you?

You know that's a good point. It's fun until someone take it too seriously... Which tends to happen often around here.

Numerous attempts?? I'm hearing you either know it 100% or see ya.....no numerous attempts. What I am saying is that one could go here as prepared as she or he thinks they are and still wash out due to the lack of second chances. You may have a sim partner not up to snuff, you might not have a flow down pat.....seems pretty severe. The goal should be to give people who put forth the effort to get them through. Why would one go to Compass knowing that they are not in teaching mode but rather you should know it cus you had cbt mode. This practice in our industry needs to stop

It’s not one and done dude. We just don’t drop you and move onto the next new hire because you forgot a simple flow or call out or because you failed a training event. You get a couple tries and then if you still can’t hack it, then it goes to the training review board just like any other airline. For all the new hires, stop thinking that compass training is god awful and harder than any other airlines in the industry. Again, show up prepared, know your call outs and flows like the back of your hand, be able to say your call outs while watching tv and not just in perfect order but in random order as well, and have a positive attitude.
