Data storm... I think they just made that up. The closest thing I could find was broadcast storm.

Yeah I'd have to go way back to my Cisco class I took in HS and dig up the relevant info but the "data storm" term is new to me,maybe they were just trying to simplify it down lol. I learned it as a network storm or broadcast storm. Not that anyone cares but this is a YouTube video showing pretty close to what happened https://youtu.be/OVMi3f9t8Kw

It's usually better to just call it what it is instead of dumbing it down. Kinda like the guys who refuse to elaborate on what the mx issue is when we take delays. I know I always appreciate it when they tell exactly what's going on.

That's how IT works everywhere though,they assume the end users are not "tech savvy". That's why every IT issue begins with them asking if you have restarted your computer or not..
