To those that called out sick to go to the job fair because you couldn't get the time off I hope you realized that you made your own colleagues suffer. Many of us got junior assigned and because of it I was not able to get to Atlanta for the ticket that I fought to get and the time off that I BID off for. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Way to screw your own co-workers. I can't say I'll feel bad for you having to go to MSP or getting a record of discipline for that.

If you guys want to call in sick when you aren't sick I get that too. Want to go camping with the family or even just chill for a while? Fine... Go. Hell, I've called in sick for a sickation. I'm smart enough not to do it an a holiday or a day I should expect is going to have a lot of other people call in. Like a day DAL is having a career fair.

While I agree, lets not forget that it was delta and their ilk that created this "regional" mess and the utter and complete desperation of people trying to escape it. There is no valid reason for ANY regional captain to make less than a first year f/o at mainline. All of this falls at the feet of the mainline carriers due to their refusal to pay a wage commensurate with our responsibility. Perhaps folks wouldn't be in such a hurry to leave if the pay was where it should be. The new Endeavor rates would be a good start. Fact of the matter is that this debacle was created by delta et al and they are the only ones who can fix it.

How about the fact that unless Mil that 1st year FO was probably a regional captain and had the quals or abilities to get the job that you so desperately won’t but have not realized. That has no economic value ? We pay people in this country largely on merit however that is defined not on some sense of self entitlement. I want that job just like you do. So let’s not begrudge those that got it.

Excuse you ? No reason why a first year mainline FO should make more then a regional captain?

There are plenty of people who at at mainline who were non-mil that never sat left seat in an RJ. And the fact that a captain at a regional makes half of what a year 2 FO at mainline makes speaks to the problem.
