What a ridiculous, short sighted, nimble minded, toad sucking reason for a captain to pick up a fo open time trip.
"Agreed."

If you want to fly so badly with someone, go rent a 172 or something. Then you can bro it up that much without needing to worry about it ending up on a CVR. And if you're a CFI then both of you can log PIC time!

Meaning that it’s ok to get right seat qualified to fly with his friend? Or was ur fo rolling his eyes at the fact that people shouldn’t fly right seat for that?

I volunteered. Might as well make some extra money since I didn't just get a pay raise or a bonus...

I have my 1000 TPIC so I'm not really worried about what column I'm filling in my logbook.

Welp, here we go. Can't get Americans to fly for pennies on the dollar, start hiring from outside the country. This industry is trying anything and everything it can do except the one thing it needs to. delta et al, the time has come to PAY UP!

Wow I don’t agree with this at all. I want more money just as much as you and anyone else but not at the expense of taking flight time/pay away from FOs who already don’t get enough flight time and pay, minus the brand new guys with the bonus. SMH 🤦*♂️

Your right. I also never said they would be going to Envoy if they went anywhere else... they will go wherever AA decides to put them, whether that is still at Compass or moved to Envoy, Republic or SkyWest.

I think you are forgetting that a line holding FO can bid to fly more if they wish.

If they're on reserve and worried about building time so they can upgrade they will have plenty of time to build time while they what their turn on the seniority list.

If they were trying to fly more to make money the pay raise now makes it so 75 hours now pays what 85 used to - take that money and enjoy some days off for once.

If you want to split hairs, the real people hurting first officers are other first officers bypassing upgrade so they don't have to sit reserve as a captain. Report their names to the union.

Agree to disagree. How does FOs bypassing hurt other FOs? Not sure I follow your logic here

First of all, 1000TPIC is not a magic number or else you and several other guys wouldn't be here still (assuming you have apps out)..so keep flying (left seat), and second, if you want more money go seat support or be a slip and do some doubles. Right seat flying is the Wrong way to go about it... see what I just did there??

Seriously, we need to stick together on this. And there is still open time on the CA side, right seat flying is not necessary -- to put it nicely.

A bypassing FO is filling the sic column with worthless hours. A bypassing FO is typically bidding the most lucrative trips (giving other FOs less productive flying). A bypassing FO is getting a lot of days off and likely picking up a lot of flying. Having people sitting on the top of the list in either seat is a bad thing.

I don't see how you can think a right seat captain is the equivalent of a scab without understanding how a bypassing FO hurts other FOs at a greater level.

As I've said before, if you allow right seat captain's you essentially do not need reserve first officers (reserve captains can do that flying). The company can have enough captain's on reserve to cover FO and CA flying. This encourages the company to upgrade and keeps FOs off reserve. I do not see why this is a bad thing. Would you rather be on reserve looking to pick up flying or a line holder?

Maybe agreeing to disagree is appropriate.
