I would actually like to meet peeps in real life and share a beer with this guy. Sounds like he or she is already one of the types of OO pilot I like to be around.

I mean that's not the worst be definitely needs to be better. I was kinda upset the company didn't seem to act like we need more money but the truth is Skywest is our main competitor for CFIs and we need to up our game to truly convince a 22 year old social media laden CFI that us losing planes is better than them gaining them.

this is a thing. The problem with ffd carriers is there is very little that can be done to effect profit margins. The cost of labor is the big one. Sure a regional could pay much more but then they make less. Pay us too much then they lose money... Unless they get more money from mainline for the contract. We end up pricing ourselves out of the job.

but with announcing a new TA, do you think that the numbers would be run by to management at Delta? Or do they do it completely on their own accord?

So can we file a grievance towards the company for CBA violation of 25.B.1?
B. Staffing
1. The Company will employ a sufficient number of Pilots to cover all known Flying, vacation, sick leave, scheduled training, Company-related business, known leaves of absence and other known unavailabilities, and staff the operation so as not to unduly disrupt the schedules of Lineholders and will maintain an adequate number of Reserves to cover unforeseen operational needs, to avoid the frequent modification of schedules of Lineholders, and to avoid excessive junior manning.

Honestly this is effective. At Riddle a regional would park a brand new E175 out front of the training building for a day, and set up a table accepting resumes and conducting interviews on the spot. Every time they came they got several applicants. It was very effective. That, and "get them early" programs, like for example oo's cadet program or expressjet's AP3. As a CFI with 500 hours it's pretty cool to have a 121 CJO in your pocket. Riddle Daytona alone loses 10 CFI's a month to regionals. When Republic showed up with it's (then new) $40 an hour contract and a shiny 175 we lost 25 CFIs to them in the following 60 days. Most CFIs there (Florida) don't even know Compass Airlines exists. Hell, PSA still parks a 900 there at least 4 times a year

Much, much different environment now. Where would delta move all that flying to? You think that if they did Comair them that the majority would start back a the bottom of the the list at OO or YX or where ever they TRY to move the flying to? Sure, some would but a bunch would go ACMI, LCC, ULCC or just say ef it, I'm out. A majority of the pilots at Endeavor have degrees and/or marketable skills in other trades. Plenty of work outside the industry to be had. And let's be perfectly clear here. delta et al created this regional debacle and quite honestly they are the are the only ones who can fix it. More money for everyone is a good start. It is time for them to pay up. The increase of applicants here at Compass with the $17,500 bonus proves this. There is simply nowhere to move the flying to. Thanks to public law 111-216 the whipsaw is about dead.
