Long story short, if you're intent on flying AA (and getting our ho-hum AA benefits), be based in LAX. If you live in PHX and want to drive to work, bid PHX. If you are hell-bent on flying for AA out of PHX, go to Skywest. But if I were you, I'd recommend the option that results in not commuting.

So if 9E were to vote their new TA into effect...why would any potential new hire come here? Step it up CP.

The 2018 vacation memo is a voluntary critical pay buy back. Not sure why some people here are treating it like it's already being taken from them. If THAT memo comes, then get mad. But for now, don't make it into something more negative than it is.
$20 to anyone who asks on the call about September/October class sizes or 2018 SEA crew base sizes. I'll be flying

I agree with Poor Flyer,
#1, they are offering it for pretty much the whole of next year. What's up with that? You would think maybe extend the offer through the winter and into the spring if there is some hiring concern and then re-evaluate, but all the way to November 2018 now? This seems to me to reflect their lack of confidence that we will be properly staffed next year at all. It is almost like they are planning on not properly staffing the airline by choosing ahead of time what they are NOT willing to do (contractual retention bonuses, pay hikes for everyone, work rules, I dunno... raise moral by following the contract and correcting long-standing grievances, anything..).
#2, I think we all know what they are willing to do when they back themselves into a crew planning corner-- you get voluntold to give your vacation up that you earned and were awarded from the year before-- not cool.
#3, asking the question tomorrow has a degree of pointlessness to it because you know they are not going to be like "yeah we may pull vacation again" -- they are going to say what they said last time "we are not there yet, so next question" which was hilarious since they seemed to have gotten there like a week later when they pulled the vacation.
#4, I don't know... I'm just on a roll here with these numbers.... rabble rabble rabble
Bottom line, some of us got majorly burned and the rest of us watched with disgust. So now that we are about to bid for next year, I think we all just want to have some confidence that we can book those cruises, vacation homes, or plan that trip to the Epcot Center (joke) without any staffing drama.
