At the moment I'd bet a new hire could go to any base he wants. That will certainly change in a few months but right now it seems you could take your pick of base. New hires going to LA but I'm in the bottom 1% of the list and I could hold either LAX or SEA right now. I love working here even though I applied at the worst possible time

Either way there is no doubt about it, we are losing 20+ dudes a month. For an airline with only 720 pilots, that's a lot. They are going to have to offer something if they can't get the numbers they need. Just about every airline is doing it. Personally I think we would be upgrading 20 guys a month if we didn't have a problem attracting new talent.

All I know is they need to do something. The CA rsv Availability for today is 5 in lax and that includes the two ready rsv guys. Be ready for the floor to be raised again soon guys.

I don't think the floor will be getting raised anytime soon. Even with these low numbers reserve guys are not breaking or barely breaking guarantee and there are rarely critical pay trips anymore. They don't need to upgrade more because pretty much every captain here trips all over themselves to pack their schedule with open time at 100%.

Might be easier for them to recruit pilots if their "pilot career" page on the compass website was updated. Currently it says double occupancy for the training process when that's not the case. Also says we have 880 pilots and the most junior captain/FO dates are out of date. No new hire is going to want to share a room for 3 months of training, and we don't even do that, so why is it even on the website? Also, the chart of 200 pilots leaving in 15 months is more impressive if you're advertising your pilot group is smaller (maybe update that pie chart too considering our phenomenal summer attrition) It's like 695ish now. And a 12/15/16 hire just got SEA so those most junior dates are misleading in a bad way.
Anyone checking out the career webpage will be left with an underwhelmed impression when that's not even reality.

That's exactly what I am saying. Attrition is crazy, but they can't upgrade to cover it unless we get new guys in the door. The consensus in building C seems to be that they screwed up not hiring at all. Yes we would be fat for a little while, but at the end of the day, they wouldn't need to be scrambling to hire new guys and back up the training department. They could have reduced hiring to only the most qualified candidates. This would have spaced out training nicely and we wouldn't have been known as the only regional in the industry not hiring. I think management even used the dreaded F word. What regional in 2016/17 would even be thinking of furlough? And they said it like they did us a favor. "Well at least we didn't furlough" Yes because if they did, Compass would be done by 2018. Anyways I think our dark ages have passed and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens here in the next few months! I agree Compass needs to get better at updating their hiring info if they want to help attract new guys.
