All in all, fairly routine and boring.
I suspect the font lady has found a new issue to ***** about as her voice sounded remarkably similar: now the commute to LAX is a 12 hour ordeal! What kinda headwinds would we be looking at for that sort of commute? Good heavens! Do some research before *****ing, especially with the entire company on the line because it degrades the nature of griping.
Unknown on the split, as far as how many birds/associated crews will be going to both west coast bases. Phoenix, and Salt Lake City, were both listed as having a bump up in summer flying, as well as some new destinations such as Eugene OR for Delta, and Grand Junction CO for AA. This is really good news.
1. It will increase the block hour allocation, already supplementing the transition of the crews out west.
2. Attrition is still keeping up, but I dont think I am alone in voicing concern that we now have people jumping ship for other regionals. It is what it is, different strokes for different folks.
3. Two new hire classes as well as an upgrade class this month. Someone has asked what the potential upgrade situation was, and Adam said it was too early to tell.
4. Management will be discussing this excess of reserves we have available in multiple bases. Unknown where they plan to take it.
About sums it all up for now.

My thoughts, they like attrition, even to other regionals. It means they can keep new hires coming without having to worry as much about excess reserves. Think about this, someone comes to find out how long reserve is here vs an airline that is growing, they bounce for airline X, Y or Z, keeps a place for new hires coming in.
If people were not leaving for other regionals, new hire classes would not be necessary for a few more months. It might also cause the solution to excess FO reserve to be furloughs.

Abandon ship?
I applied in November and made one of the last new hire classes. The recruiters promised beyond a shadow of a doubt that Seattle was easy to get into fast, reserve time was 3-6 months, and upgrades were 2 years or less.
Now I'm on reserve with no end in sight at an airline that basically has 100 too many FOs and looks like I'll be on reserve for at least 10 or 12 more months. I haven't seen an airplane or airport in weeks, and I'm about to be displaced to LAX, the one city I told myself and my SO I'd never want to live in. Should I just abandon ship or is there any reason to stay at this point? I need flight hours and I'm hearing people say they've been here 12 months now with less than 250 in their logbooks. Republic? Gojet? Endeavor? Stick it out here? I need hours
Any new flying up for grabs in the foreseeable future?
I don't know what to do

Is Compass the place to stay? I don't know... Right now I would say it's not the place to come to, but it'll stay that way until it IS the place to stay. This section of the industry is so turbulent.
I would be inclined to just say stay here and keep your seniority. . Things will probably get better. Just suck it up and commute. You'll survive.
That's just me, though. Only you can answer your question.

Correct. I said if people were not taking initiative to leave at the bottom, they might consider furloughing, or at least not running these new hire classes. We are running new hire classes because they probably realize that when every other airline is hiring, they won't be able to attract talent if they wait until we actually need to hire.
Think about this, if we are fat on reserves, why would you hire more pilots to make us even fatter. Kudos to them for figuring this out though. I think it is a good step in the right direction.
As for folks looking to make a jump, if you are at the bottom of the FO list, its not a bad time to make that move, and won't reflect badly on you in a mainline interview if you explain it well (I wasn't flying, moved to company X,Y,Z where I showed stability, and got the total time so that I could be sitting here today for you to hire me). If you hold a line as an FO, best bet is to stay here unless we hear something that would push you down into reserve.

Even that is questionable. If one holds a line but an upgrade is 2 years away plus the 2 years it'll take to get the 1000 TPIC once you upgrade, perhaps it's better to bail for Spirit and such and wait for the eventual call from the legacies there.

Sure the regionals are turbulent as folks have pointed out, but I will say while I have been flying I have watched SkyWest grow from what was under 3000 pilots to what APC is advertising today...over 4200 pilots. And from what I have heard they have ambitions for 5000 pilots.
If you are looking for stability, at this point I think the WO are going to be more stable...as long as the legacies continue to hire. I could be wrong in that prediction. With the AA WO you can build your time, try to get on with one of the other legacies until your flow date, and worst case you will end up at AA. Piedmont is supposedly 3-5 year flow. 12-15 month upgrade, sooner with prior 121. Plus they are still taking deliveries of 145s through 2018.
Probably the biggest lesson for you is to take what a recruiter says with a grain of salt. So Piedmont offering a 3-5 year flow, I would lean more towards 5 years.
