Now, the max throughput of our training department was said at one point to be 25 upgrades a month. Through 2015 and a good portion of 2016 the company was hiring 30-40 people a month. There have been exceptions, but this is the big picture. So, even if we assume attrition supporting 25 upgrades a month (a big question - so far it had not, maybe 10-15 a month), then simple supply and demand shows that every passing month will set everyone who hadn't yet upgraded back 10-15 people, or the equivalent of half a month worth of upgrades in round numbers. So, for summer/fall 2016 hires add half of 12 months - 6 - to the 24 months the summer 2015 hires are getting, to end up with 30 months min. This will continue until we work through the current hiring freeze.
This also means that prior 121 no longer matters. It only helped in the mythical days of 2014 and 2015 , when the system was limited by lack of FOs who had the 1000 hours. This made bypasses and 3 month upgrades possible. Now that the upgrades are over 2 years, everyone will have the time by the time their seniority numbers allows them to hold an upgrade slot.
The one positive thing is that once movement resumes, I expect the reserve time to drop back to something more reasonable, like 3 months. Reasonable for the current climate, of course.

Conference call highlights:
Upgrades will be six captains in June, 6-12 per class per month after that. New hire class of six in June, six in July.
New Crew lounge in T3 at LAX in June.
New or returning stations: IND, CID, OMA FAT, GFK, GJT
BG: “I don’t think MSP is going to grow at all” - no new flying/pairings into MSP.
Embargo on Non-rev travel during the LAX gate swap next month. May be buddy passes only(?)
“It’s going to be very hectic out in LAX.”
On IOCC:
Rainmaker will be “the light at the end of the tunnel.”
IOCC “Is unsatisfactory and I agree with that wholeheartedly… There is light at the end of the tunnel and we will get those items fixed.”
“Inaccuracy of capturing leg-by-leg credit” should be fixed.
Apologized for the payroll screw-up.
