That's good. Glad we're moving forward. Let's also hope this means that the additional hiring on the horizon is acquisition for something, not just a plus up to keep pace with attrition.

There really isn't any flying to pick up. It's what we call saturated right now with scope. Tbh I hope no more flying is given off (more jobs at mainline.)

Glad y'all are hiring and upgrading again! That's awesome news! Got some friends who are target line holders who couldn't be more excited.

Keep in mind that it said "...which means we will have a vacancy by the end of next week for captains." That could also mean just a vacancy bid for people to move between bases and not necessarily upgrade classes. That's what happened in February. Trying to be optimistic but also trying to not get too excited.

Today's JS Opps update email, after the AC repeat inspections.

"We will resume new-hire classes June 1, which means we will have a vacancy by the end of next week for captains."

I'm confused. . . are you guys hiring?

Also, just how senior is MSP? What're reserve times like and upgrade time?

Yes we are hiring again of us today. Supposedly the recruiting department was going to be calling people in for interviews today.

MSP is senior. It is THE senior base. That's not to say there won't be movement into that base, though. I'm sure as upgrades start coming around and senior FOs there decide to switch seats there will be SOME vacancies. As a new hire I couldn't even guess how long it would take to get a spot there, though. I wouldn't count on it being soon.

Upgrades? Pfft who knows. If I had to guess I would say a year and a half to 2 years. But who really knows. How many are they wanting to upgrade? how many people continue to leave? My 1.5-2 years guess is just pulled straight from my starfish, but it's as good as anyone else's guess.

I think at this point LAX will be a ~20 month upgrade. But that's just looking at attrition as it's been. It takes probably 18 months to get off reserve and get 1000 anyway for most. MSP FO... pretty junior and not hard to get in the near future, but MSP upgrade... a long time to not be the plug there.

Every FO that I have flown with that's on rsv is flying less than 20hr/month. I'm gonna say upgrades will prob be more than 2yrs unless we truly start loosing 20-40/month instead of the 10/month we are loosing now.
