I wonder for what hub that'd be out of. EWR?

Well if you break down what carriers can fly those planes it's only the three you listed

There were 6 airlines that submitted bid. Mesa will undercut.

But then my question to you is this: Where will all of the CFI's who have just hit 1500 hours go? I highly doubt they're going to go straight to a major airline right away.

I don't know who the 6 are, but I agree and am willing to bet that Mesa will win it. JO knows that new airplanes are the only way he can lure the new hires in. I'm also convinced nobody can fly it for as little as Mesa, and the lowest bidder always wins. The race to the bottom is going to be alive a well in 2017, in the middle of the mythical "pilot shortage". I'm really hoping to be wrong this time, I just can't see other outcome for some reason...

Well, since Mesa would sell her own mother for a 172 I'm guessing we are going to lose that battle. So, that's done, back to cupholders!!

LOL, but seriously, when do those bids happen?? aka when do we know who wins??

The one thing compass has going for it is that TSH likes to run cheap, not MESA cheap, but still cheap. And i'm not sure what the staffing is like at Mesa at the moment, but as we all know, we're going to be on the fat end for a little while

The other thing YV has going for them besides the cheap labor is they already provide lift for UA and have all of their back end software in place, etc. Not sure if that would play a role in them getting the additional birds or not though
