- Are upgrades seriously at 12mo!!??

Thanks!!

Yeah you can get any base out of training now reserve seems to be around 2-3 months (expected to drop with all the attrition that's been going on and is forecasted)

Not sure exactly what you're looking for in regards to a commuter policy but commuters get 4 hotels in base per month and there's a commuter clause that you can use if you can prove you attempted to get on two flights that has seats 24 hours prior to your Showtime that would get you to work on time. Yes you can bid for commutable trips on both ends.

Hours per month is literally what you bid for once you have a line. You can bid for max days off I'd say the average junior guys with a line will probably get 14-16 days off and senior guys more towards 17-19 days off some get even more. Some guys will fly minimum 75 hours some will fly 95 hours with less days off it's really whatever you bid for.

Yeah upgrades seems to be around 12-18 months has advertised that's not BS. The most junior upgrade in the last Captain upgrade award that came out yesterday. I believe was a September or October hire

1. Yes you can hold pretty much any base out of training. If you don't get it right away, you will before your type rating leaves the printer.

2. Yes we do. We have a two flight attempt before you're off penalty free. Also 4 commuter hotels a month.

3. Yes they are when you can hold a line. Even if you can't make it work, the 4 hotels will do just fine.

4. Not sure as I just finished IOE.

5. Yes and no. It's basically as soon as you hit 1000 hours. Many guys are upgrading fast with previous 121 time. If you go from 0 to hero, expect a year and a half, 2 years at most from day 1 of training, reserve, etc.

Of course this can all change at any time. Compass is a good place to be. Most of us are happy here with few lifers. Just be ready to wear that hat.

Someone coming in eith ~800 121 time (4500 total) could upgrade quick? Obviously be reserve for a long while tho.
Heard something about SEA base possibly closing next year? Or just rumor?
This would be a lateral move for me; not sure if it's worth it but my regional is sinking.

The last memo sent out from the chief pilot's office said that SEA isn't going anywhere. They DID overstaff it, and it has gotten smaller recently, but back down to where they wanted it. No plans for closing it.

Lot's of lateral movers here, I'm one. Been here almost 2 years and I am a line holding Captain in LA. Old airline, I'd still be in the right seat for another year at least if not more. Come on over, the water is fine. One disclaimer though, you have to like wearing the hat, even to the crapper!

Thanks a lot guys, great info! As I've seen others saying this would be a lateral jump for me as well. The situation is that my regional is not looking bright for the future, I'm 1.5 years in and looking at another 5 at least to upgrade, they refuse to hire and therefore I cannot get off rsv even after 1.5 yrs. I have previous twin-turbine PIC time and have been networking AS a lot, but I need more hrs. to hit there mins and can't seem to fly here. I'm looking for a regional that I can commute as painlessly as possible to SEA (from ANC) and build time fast, quick upgrade would be an added bonus. I'm 400hrs. from 121 cpt mins. Whats competitive for new hires?

2,100 TT
600 121
1,000 TME
300 TPIC
EFIS & FMS experience
BS and Masters Aviation

Thanks!!

I commute from Anchorage and managed to spend a whopping one month on reserve in SEA. 2-3 months is probably more realistic, but sure beats your situation.

Every single time I read our Delta performance numbers on comply, I realize just how much we're turning into a TransStates company. DELTA on our DL175s stands for Deffer Everything Longest Time Available.
