First of all you really don't know what was said from the captain and it may have been WAY out of line. If someone is being out of line and POSSIBLY harrassing another employee it needs to be reported to someone. That kind of crap has no place in a professional environment. It's not about having a thick skin and being tough...it's about being professional and acting like an adult. If you can't do that I think it's right to question one's competence to be responsible for 80 lives.
Second, He didn't send the email to half the work force...intentionally. That was an accident (I would assume) and it's not like he was airing it out for everyone to see in order to be vindictive. Well, I guess he COULD have done that, but I doubt it.
Third, It's really none of our business sense the email isn't for us. Thus not really any of our business.

Feces happens. I'm sure no one on this board is 100% perfect 100% of the time. At the end of the day we are all on the same team, whether it's dispatch, scheduling,MXC,OPP,ABC BBD.

Say this outloud.. "Hey *dispatcher*, could you patch me over to MX? My FOs boom mic stopped working. Thanks."
Takes less than 10 seconds to give that entire spiel, everyone is in the loop, and e-mails aren't going to be sent after the call is over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the FOM state that the dispatcher and the PIC share joint responsibility of the flight? If this is what the FOM states, then I feel the dispatcher should know what is going on with a flight that he is jointly responsible for and has every right to ask the PIC what is going on...Or maybe I'm wrong

Professionalism has nothing to do with the use or non-use of curse words, regardless of what some folks think.

I do my best to get out on time because I take pride in my job and my company. My company's reputation is on the line along with DL/AA's reputation. If we get in even one or two minutes late it can be the difference in a pax making their connection or them closing up and being left for the night. People have funerals, graduations, weddings, surgeries, etc to go to. For each of our flights I bet there is one or two people traveling because of a family emergency and I want to get them to the destination on time. I don't always have time to explain it twice to a someone that can't do a damn thing about it. We're a team and sometimes that means dispatch stepping back for a minute and letting the pilots and MXC work something out before getting to them.
Plus, I would certainly hope that your decision making isn't affected by being in a hurry all the time to get people to their rehearsal dinners and family reunions and bachelor parties and wherever the hell else you think is more important than being courteous to your co-workers.

Also, there is the Captain's truth, the Dispatcher's truth, and what's on the tapes...and what's on the tapes is none of our business. The people that need to know about it need to know about it...we are just turning our wheels.
I feel like I've already said too much about this.

If you are so pushed for time that the above exchange with dispatch is going to put you behind...You are already behind.

Come on people. Take a step back and see the big picture. This is not a stressful job.
If the dispatcher asks what's broken, tell them. When all the boxes are checked and everything is done we'll get an out time. If that happens to be when our scheduled out time is that's great. If not. Oh well. If you honestly believe that telling dispatch about an issue is what made you a minute late then put it in your delay report, move on, and let management hash it out in their daily meetings.
Although things have the illusion of being "time sensitive" my job is to make sure everything is completed correctly when I'm moving an airplane from point A to B. Whether or not we're on time is honestly someone else's problem.
We're airline pilots. This isn't the last flight out of Saigon. "Time sensitive" really isn't something we should be considering as part of doing our job correctly.
