Compass Updates - Saga Continues
When I got here I was assigned an IOE trip and then moved straight into reserve. No build up line for me or anyone I know back two years ago. So why do they assign a guy a build up now and then reserve? I ran into 100 hour issues and went into my grace month. They did give me trips to meet the requirement but it wasn’t a build up and more of last minute assignments.

Back in my day you couldn’t even dream of a build up line unless you logged 500 Ready Reserve hours trying to catch rats in the MSP crew room.
14 months of flying 10-40 hours a month on reserve grumble grumble you kids these days grumble grumble

And when it came time to push back at the gate you actually had to do that - push back - with the FO on the nose gear and an FA on each main grunting and groaning while the Captain worked the tiller, and then clamber up the air stair door to get inside to start the checklists and passenger brief.
You young whippersnappers have no idea how good you've got it....

I remember like it was yesterday. We also had steak and chicken and lobster crew meals.
And every approach was a localizer approach - back course most of them - except for the a few remaining NDB approaches.
