Compass Updates - Saga Continues
Cool, I believe him.
Now on to more relevant things. I am thinking of running, but I dont know anything about the airlines. My Dad was president of his union in a state job for 10 yrs, so I got the activist blood, I can picket with the best of em.
What should I run on? Better snacks?

Long time lurker, first time poster:
Color me jaded but, this smells like the CPO trying to get rid of someone who’s actually interested in our well-being. I was at the expo as well. (Great job by the way better than Delta’s) I didn’t see former-Compass, Delta people there. Couple of questions for you:
Why go to that expo anyway?
How did you (or your friend) see their schedules? It’s probably been awhile since you were at Compass, but we’re not on Flica anymore and you can’t just look up someone’s schedule, unless you’re in management I’d suppose.
Is the Chairman supposed to skip out on career progression in order to fill his term?
Who’s a bigger class act? The chairman that stays and fights hard for the pilots until his last day of employment or the Chairman that signs a ****ty deal that extends the contract 2 years on the last day of being a chairman, walks away and magically becomes a check airman the next week?

2. I went to the expo because I want to work for FedEx (DL not my cup of tea as I commute from MIA.
3. I saw the schedule from the bid award, it’s a PDF file not Flica. Originally scheduled trip not office days as previous poster said. ( so sorry Agent62, he lied to you.
4. Dude I don’t know either of these guys personally. Just was bothered that they would be doing this to my brothers at Compass. Zerafa was the last Chairman I dealt with and he was an upstanding guy.

Well when I initially saw the post about it, I was pretty livid. After the stuff the last MEC pushed on the pilot group, I really don't like the idea of the new MEC doing more things that look way less than upstanding.
They new guys said to always call them with concerns that we might have, and this feels like something deserving of an explanation, so I called Thomas to ask for one directly.
He told me that he was at the Fedex Expo, and did have ALPA days on his schedule on the day of the Expo as well.
He apologized to me for how it looked, and in hindsight it doesn't look good to a third party looking at his schedule without any context. He explained to me that originally he had office days over the day of the Expo and when he got a confirmed ticket to the expo he discussed it with the rest of the MEC and decided to do the office work on his off days.
His trip was already bought off for those dates so they left the ALPA days on his schedule and rescheduled the office work.
I asked him about how the ALPA days work and how it relates to our dues spent. He explained that the ALPA days do not always correlate with actual days worked due to scheduling conflicts and that he, Ryan and Sam are often in on their days off working on things. Not being on permanent office leave makes scheduling difficult and sometimes things just get jumbled around, so the days don't always directly correlate.
I did ask him if I could post a summary of our conversation here and he didn't really want to because he didn't want this to get blown out of proportion. He seemed glad that I called him to talk with him directly about it.
I've been very critical of the MEC in the past, but I didn't get the feeling I was being deceived. He seemed very willing to disclose any other information about ALPA finances and his schedule if I was interested. Take it for what you will, but I didn't get the impression he was trying to hide anything after talking to him.
