It was mx. It’s always mx or catering.

That old gem. Does anyone know what happened since then, like did the FAA accept their "it was an emergency" plea?

It is a DOT issue not FAA, and they take a long time. Probably wont really hear anything either way too.

Are we flying for the same company? My last trip they tried to force us to fly with less than 10(8) hours rest, and spent 45 minutes arguing with the CA about it on the phone, threatening us with MFAs... all while we were at the hotel waiting to get off the phone and sleep.

Their argument was that the “8 hours of uninterrupted sleep opportunity” was measured from when you arrive in the hotel lobby to the show time. So we had to explain to CS that arguing with them/waking up/dressing/crew van/customs wasn’t part of those 8 hours. Refused to transfer us to a chief pilot, but did transfer us to a SOC supervisor who told us “MFA’s if you don’t show”

Not to mention that the plane was AOS and they didn’t expect it to be fixed until 12-15 hours later anyway

That is so sketch! Good on you guys for holding the line. One of my favorite Waynes World quotes applies here...

Ps. My contribution to the operation this week was missing 4 JA calls... if you guys are impressed with me... dont worry, that's normal

jesus, why argue? After they would threaten me with an mfa I’d just tell them when I’m showing up and hang up. Give me an mfa. I’m still not breaking the law

Wow. I hope you filed an ASAP. Especially regarding the part where they refused to transfer you to the chief pilot, that is 100% UNACCEPTABLE.

Had this exact scenario happen (reduced rest). Told them what time we would be showing up, and not a minute sooner, and to tell JS exactly what I said. When you’re right, you’re right. Also doesn’t hurt to call the ALPA safety hotline and get them on your side.

Our chiefs are notorious for not answering the phone. Just tell SOC you’re not moving the airplane until you hear back and see how fast you have a call waiting.

I welcome a good MFA that will be pay protected and cause them to loose not just two pilots, but also send out a reserve crew, further negating the situation.
