Their argument was that the “8 hours of uninterrupted sleep opportunity” was measured from when you arrive in the hotel lobby to the show time. So we had to explain to CS that arguing with them/waking up/dressing/crew van/customs wasn’t part of those 8 hours. Refused to transfer us to a chief pilot, but did transfer us to a SOC supervisor who told us “MFA’s if you don’t show”
Not to mention that the plane was AOS and they didn’t expect it to be fixed until 12-15 hours later anyway

Are we flying for the same company? My last trip they tried to force us to fly with less than 10(8) hours rest, and spent 45 minutes arguing with the CA about it on the phone, threatening us with MFAs... all while we were at the hotel waiting to get off the phone and sleep.

Had this exact scenario happen (reduced rest). Told them what time we would be showing up, and not a minute sooner, and to tell JS exactly what I said. When you’re right, you’re right. Also doesn’t hurt to call the ALPA safety hotline and get them on your side.

I welcome a good MFA that will be pay protected and cause them to loose not just two pilots, but also send out a reserve crew, further negating the situation.
