5 DL cancels today. All MX. Skywest or mainline are the only ones who run substitution cancels for us because Republic and Endeavour aren't out west.

Mentioned the contract today to an ex compass guy. Was a 07 hire and flowed out in ‘14. He was apparently really involved with the union and the contract at that time.
Said extending it was “genius” because “now they can’t blame the pilots if the flying doesn’t get renewed”
I suppose he meant they just locked in the current rates to make it cheaper on our next bid? Dunno
On one hand, our contract and pay honestly isn’t that bad for a regional. I’m quite happy with it minus the bonus thing. Considering we’re fighting to keep our flying, I’m not too upset we’re not trying to vote in some amazing new pay rate right now that may be a nail in the 2020 coffin.
If this was OO or mainline, and we weren’t in danger of losing birds, I’d say it’s utter BS that the contract was renewed overnight and pretty much stabbing the pilot group in the back.
But in my (maybe naive?) eyes, I’d rather have a job/upgrade in 2020 than get a $5 pay bump now.

I'm new, but don't think I've seen a plane that didn't have at least one MEL. One of them... orange stickers all over the place

Lol at the people who couldn't even manage to show up to work with a pivot case.
The pilots that forgot the pivot cases were also the ones who forgot to cancel the commuter Hotel reservation. The struggle is real.

Flying would also exclusively go to Mesa now.
There's more to the decision than just price.
It's like when you go to the grocery store... do you always buy the cheapest item, or are there certain things you'll buy generic, but others that you're willing to pay for the brand name? Sometimes that extra cost is worth what you get in a product.
