exactly. the first wave of CFI types being hired here in 2014-2015 weren't being held back/ re-doing lessons. We fly the easiest airplane flow wise. The fact that there's so many issues in the school right now is concerning. Hopefully it doesnt speak to the types of people we are hiring now.

Got an email right before the BP came out. Vacation canceled. Not like I had plans or anything for an actual vacation.
I know it’s been said before, but we shouldn’t have to be punished for the mistakes managment makes.

Also, the training isn’t exceptionally hard. It’s clearly made for prior 121 guys, but it’s reasonable. Good CFIs are as likely to pass as any. I had 975 hours in a Cessna and it wasn’t that hard once we got the SV behind us.
That said, for the past 6 months they have been much more lenient in interviews... a lot of people that would have gotten the “thanks but no thanks” in 2016 are being welcomed aboard

We aren't just hiring cfi's and those that we have hired generally do well in training. From what I've heard it's the corporate and rotor guys that need a little help. If they need to add anything to the training it would be a lesson on vnav. I suspect the biggest issue is the lack of available instructors.

I second this. Want your FOs to leave early? Slow upgrades.

Back to the rumor mill. At the Republic company party they announced taking some Mesa ERJ orders to open a Houston base. They also announced PHX and SEA as their next two bases expanding westward with 55+ ERJs they'd be acquiring. They didn't say where they'd be getting those planes, but after the big announcements on the side management said the plan is to aquire Trans States. Apparently they want to merge CP and run the others separately. Let the denial from management begin.

Source?
Nothing on the RAH forums mentions this at the moment. Also why wouldn’t they mention LAX?
Whole thing sounds fishy

That really is unfortunate they cancelled those vacations with as little as 20 days notice. I urge anyone impacted to read the CBA and submit any forfeited expenses accordingly.
Sadly, this decision to achieve short-term results will likely drag Compass further behind long-term staffing needs due to the negativity that will come with it and a backlog of rescheduled vacations.
To reverse the staffing trend at this point is improvable given our average monthly attrition, recent ULCC contract improvements, Regional competition, the applicant pool, and internal factors related to Compass.
There’s a little wiggle room on the CA side today but due to the FO shortage and the current throttling of upgrades to roughly 50% of CA attrition, we’ll be seeing zero reserve days, critical emails, cancelled vacations, and perpetual raised floor across all positions in all bases by late-summer. Welcome to the new-normal.
Today’s news is a huge red flag for me and will undoubtedly impact my thoughts on staying at Compass and waiting for THE call or accepting an immediate position with an ULCC as an alternative path.
