Base is probably top priority. If I was early 20's I wouldn't care but I'll be nearing 29 by the time I get hired and would like to stay LAX. Upgrade time is second, and pay comes third.
My dad works for American and it would be great to get there too, but I realize that unless I work for a WO, it's not the greatest chance to make it. Most Compass guys seem to go to Delta which I think is a great consolation prize. Those are top 2.

One guy wrote a very gracious note to a pax in a stressful life situation and got a personal thank you from DP himself... got picked up soon after. I dont recommend trying that though, I started writing notes to pax after that happened and they just think it's weird.
My only hope is SW, it's the best chance I got at not getting fired in my career at mainline. No more snack baskets though, sad day.

Then yeah, welcome to Compass! With those priorities, in that order I can recommend CP above all else. A WO will get you to AA but at the expense of moving away. The ONLY regional where you will for sure get a west coast base and very likely LAX out of training is CP. Your upgrade here will be about on par with 00 or anybody else, and our pay is right with most as well and will likely go up. I have nothing against Skywest, but don’t ever fall for a recruiters tactics, I don’t care what they tell you and how many pinky promises they make about a west coast base, something could happen and you could end up driving a 50yr old RJ out of ORD for the foreseeable future. Here you are guaranteed a west coast base which are all easily commutable from LAX if you on some off chance did not get it right away, fly nice airplanes, great trips, hotels, layovers, awesome crews, snack basket raids, and if you do take LAX you might just be lucky enough to fly with BobbyLee! I’m not a recruiter and I don’t particularly like recruiters, I get nothing out of this, just trying to help you make an informed decision. I too was your age when hired and my priorities were the exact same, I HAD to have a west coast base so I chose CP. All the other above mentioned benefits came with it and I’m glad to be here! Come on over, we’ll teach you the Compass Wave

Best chance of getting hired at AA is being prior military.

Yeah when I applied there they said I could go to any base, they were all junior and growing too some tiny ERJ base where you’ll be on reserve forever and the only chance of a fast upgrade is a 200 in ORD. But then again they also said I shouldn’t worry about upgrade time because “SkyWest guys get hired out of the right seat”
Apparently they just spend their days and nights bugging other airlines on APC.

Bidding
Let’s say you’re at the border between reserve and build up.
How do you bid days off? I’ve used reserve off days before but now does that only work if I have a reserve line? I put in both reserve days off and line days off and I’m getting “reserve off day should not co-exist with any other bid” ?
