You aren't entitled to anything. If they gave a guaranteed interview you should be thrilled. At the interview the results are 100% on you.

Even if you get a guaranteed. It will be no cake walk. You will still have to meet the standards as a non guaranteed interviewee.
With the hiring that is going on I'd just apply and keep updating. You'll get a call eventually.

That's the thing though...."the hiring that is going on" has yet to reach a critical stage. Their pool is full, and is a few years from drying up. They are by no means desperate, and that is why so many people with awesome qualifications are still not getting a call. The big 3 can still afford to be super picky, giving priority to MIL folks before us regional scum
