Compass worklife
Hey all,
I am a furloughed Comair FO and I see that Compass is hiring. Life was pretty crappy being on the bottom of the list, going back on reserve and getting my base changed from CVG to JFK. Your previous leader is now our current leader and where as I think he's doing a better job than I've seen in the past, I know he likes to run staffing tight. I am wondering if it is even worth it to apply to get back into this industry or is life just as s----
at Compass as it was at Comair.
Your input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi!
I'm not sure if Compass would be better than Comair for QOL, but Compass does have the flow through. On the other hand, if you're a new-hire now, by the time 3 years hits, the flow-through may be moot.
Also, just realized that with the flow through, and the recalls that will come in the next 3 years, I think Capt upgrade at Compass will be WAY faster than at Comair!

Hey Cliff,
Thanks for the info. That's exactly the only positive that I was thinking about was the flow through program and the faster upgrades. At least if I can get PIC time I am more marketable for the major's or a corporate job. The QOL is a big thing for me since I have a family now and really is the only thing from keeping me from jumping in feet first.
I appreciate the input!

The reason why compass is hot right now because they are the cheapest in terms of cost from MX (new planes) to labor and alot of other things. Keep in mind most employess will be there at 4 years at the most where Comair may have some guys there for at least 20 years if not greater. plus no offence to Comair but they have some of the oldest CRJs out there. Old planes tend to be a MX hog but that is my take.

Yes I too have unfortunately learned my lesson about bases, it's all about where it's cost efficient for the company as they don't give a damn about their employees and how it affects them. As far as Delta goes, I wouldn't trust them with as far as I can throw them...as a Comair FO, we were definitely the red headed stepchild and they never let us forget it! Sometimes I think they made decisions on our block hours just to see how much they can ---- with us and than laugh at us. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that's how it feels.
I am definitely not thinking the grass is greener over at Compass and I don't want to start off at year 1 pay again, but the only regionals hiring are compass and colgan and well, enough said
