Didn't Compass just offer $10k signing bonuses? Where was ALPA on that one? Ive read both deals and unions have nothing to do with it. skyWest is just flat out better in every category, and with the quick upgrade gone at compass why would any newhire want to go there??
Irrelevant to this comparison. Where was your union when management started poaching other pilots with current type ratings from other regionals? Or when they raised first year pay but not so much the rest? Oh wait! I know! I know! ....
Since when is two years for a new hire not quick? Whats Skywest at again?
Wait, "better in every category"? How? How in the world did you come to that conclusion seeing as you dont work here? If you want to be there the rest of your life? Sure Skywest is better(maybe), it has more bases to choose from. But thats about it. Im not saying compass is better either. But Both are still regionals, so its nothing to brag about. Not one of them is greater than the other. Not at all. Now if we compared republic and skywest? Then you might be onto something.

I don't work for anybody yet. All my friends say the quick upgrade at compass is over? Is that not true?

Skywest has a culture that is quite different from Compass.
If you want an immediate west coast base and want to specifically fly the E175, then Compass is a good choice - otherwise go with another regional.
The pilot group at Compass is also a happy bunch, at least most - it would suck to get paid $40 an hour, yet have to sit next to a Captain that treats you like his minion, hates his job, hates management and does nothing but complain about the company you just started flying for.
You should look beyond the first year pay and the quick upgrade gimmicks, just my 0.02.

As far as I know - Compass (at the moment) isn't having problems attracting new hires-- Talked to recruiting the other day-They are filling classes. They actually have a small pool--(about a 3 week wait minimum for class) the plan is to hire about 110 more pilots this year for AA flying. Then next year they need to catch up on this year's attrition & continue to hire for attrition.
