For all we know, lax could close next year. Delta shuffles us around yearly...
2013 the year of LGA
2014 the year of LAX
2015 the year of SEA
2016 the year of ____
It would be fun to hear stabs for 2016... I've heard ORD and BOS.
Back to the question, there are a lot of flights from NYC-LAX. It's just that, they're all very long. You probably won't want to sit in the cockpit. Also good news: all of our trips look commutable on the back end(if you're on time)

I've heard the comment of DFW maybe becoming a base just because LAX soon won't have room for AA overnighting aircraft and DFW has the room and currently has several overnighting crews each night. Just a comment a pilot made, not really a rumor or based on much. But makes sense to me!

Don't you have a mx base in lax? So the rumor you are presenting is aag will take flying away from someone else and give it to compass so you can have a place to park overnight aircraft, so who is going to do the kick off flight? Or have I gotten this wrong.

no, he's saying there are still 10 more AA birds to be delivered and running out of space in LAX so they might make DFW a pilot base as well since there are already a lot of overnights there...

I've heard that not all the 175s can fit in the eagle nest due to the wingspan compared to the CRJ. Anyone else hear the same?

Right now we don't do any DFW flying on the AA side of things. This might change as we progress but I don't see it as LAX-DFW is not going to go to the 175's

if delta is really going to expand boston i hope they use compass. or a NY base would be nice. i think having an east coast base would attract more pilots here

Currently 100% of the AA flying is LAX out-and-backs. I've heard that the Mesa and SkyWest AA domiciles are closing and we will be the only AE operator based in LAX. That doesnt preclude another carrier from operating in LAX for AA, just means it wont be on a large scale. That said, does AA want 100 flights In/Out of LAX every day on the E-175? I dont really think so. I find it more likely that they start moving us through PHX or DFW as the schedule progresses.
Does this mean there will be another base? That'll be interesting to see how it goes. Obviously DFW would be an easier choice because the DL operation supports 5-10 departures a day.
Also, its yet to be seen how the new AA deals with its newly expanded amount of regional flying and carriers. So far, it seems like they are keeping everybody to their own bases - which is opposite from DL who likes to have multiple carriers in each base.

Again I think the DFW base chance ended when we stopped doing DFW-LGA
