The announcement that Compass had been bought by Trans States Holdings really killed this thread. Up until that point, this thread was getting several posts per day; now not so much.

Anybody have any advice for a pilot moving to Detroit...Where can I get a cheap crashpad? Anyone know of hotels that share with other pilots for cheap?

The Quality Inn and the airport has a crew discount and has a few crashpads. They Days Inn has a discount and a few pad. The Clarion I would aviod. The Metropolitan has good rate. This is where most crews stay for cheap. Shuttler services to all these hotels are by the same company. If you are going to be in DTW for a month or two dont waste time getting the SIDA badge unless your heart desires. Not worth it.

FWI. You can get a discount at all Choice Hotels. There is a Delta/Delta Connection Discount of 25% off

I disagree with the Clarion. If you get into one of the crashpads there, its easy to get to and from, pretty clean, and has breakfast in the morning. Overall, it has been one of my better crashpad situations. If you'd like, I can get you in touch with the guy who runs the crashpad I was in. Cheap and effective!

Also, COMPLETELY disagree with the SIDA badge comment. You really need one if you're gonna be on reserve to get down to the crew room. Its way more of a PITA to hope that someone can escort you to the crew room than to take a little time to go do the SIDA badge office. What else do you have to do if you're on reserve?

Thanks for the advice - I'll look into it.

Thanks! I'm new to the forums so I'm not sure how we can get in touch to get the guy's number who runs the crashpad - but that would be really helpful.

Just curious if anyone would be able to get me an email address for someone at Compass. Feel free to PM if you can. Thanks!

What email address are you looking for? A pilot, flight attendant, someone in HR? I have a couple of buddies who are pilots there if that will help...however I don't yet have 25 posts so my PM's aren't enabled yet. Boo for the 25 post rule.

Anybody have a feel for the flow to Delta? With Compass being now owned by Trans States will the flow go away? Will all pilots on with Compass prior to the acquisition be allowed to flow and all hires post acquisition not be able to? I'm sure its all rumors at this point, just wondering what people think.
