Where would these hypothetical 23 E175s come from? Can't imagine Compass going multi-type for 20 CRJ7/9s with GoJets already set up and taking DL CRJs. MRJs are still aways out. A new E-jet order wouldn't be pronto for years.

Republic owns their airframes, and no. They just were awarded an additional 9 ERJ170's to enter service third quarter 2015. They also extended their current contract for the 14 170's until 2021, and 16 175's through 2024.

The 7 -900s were awarded to GoJet because they found 7 used -900s on the cheap. The remaining scope would be compass 175s (according to this crewroom banter)
FYI, the 170s mentioned above were awarded to republic for a similar reason. 170s apply to a different scope size re: "medium RJ"

3inthegreen asked if there were any rumors for more flying. Don't kill the messenger. And feel free to use or not use the crew room as you please - nobody is stopping you.
As for more flying, I would prefer scope was reclaimed by the mainline carriers. The flying that was scoped out will be flown by somebody. I would prefer it is flown at compass... More flying means more pilots, bases, QOL etc.
