I just have a quick question. Hoping someone who's been through training recently can answer, I'll be in MSP for the February 5th Indoc. I know indoc is a day long but how long roughly speaking? What time can we expect to be released? Just wondering because i'm debating whether to take the red eye out of LAS and arrive at 5am in MSP for an 8am indoc or just arrive the day before and get a hotel. Trying to save as much cash as possible.

Class date is February 23rd.

Look forward to meeting the new coworkers!
Expect to finish around 2-3pm. They will have your badge ready and you'll be in CASS.

What are your plans if the red eye cancels?

We were done and at the airport by 14:00. I wouldn't risk the red eye, too much at stake. I know it sucks to have to pay for a room but that's the reality if you want to work at CP. I don't know how some of these kids are doing it. Someone could be in the hole for 2 or 3 grand just for lodging during training..

Our recruiting dept has done a great job of getting qualified applicants, and I expect for them to continue to do so. If your qualified and get an offer, you've earned it, but they aren't going to just invite everybody with a pulse.

DA40Pilot, persistence is a key, if a degree isn't in the works. Good luck! If you get on, congrats.
Well, I'm not sure I agree with that first statement. Although I don't want to downplay the value of a degree, I think getting a Commercial Multi and all the CFI ratings without a checkride bust qualifies someone in the "aptitude" of learning department.

It's great that Compass is still able to be selective and still attract applicants - since I'm west coast based, Compass is an attractive place for me to be due to the pilot group size and upgrade opportunities.

I will def. continue networking...and yes, I will eventually get the degree, I just opted to get 10 years of work experience instead of the degree, and thanks to that, I was not stuck with $100k in student loans, which I guess was the only upside....

Don't confuse a degree in anything with a degree in aviation. A Bachelor's from a state school can be reasonably priced for in state applicants. The point we are making is having a degree in something shows you are well rounded and disciplined as a person- not just as a pilot.

You are entitled to your opinion regarding the value of a college degree. Too bad many major airlines on the upper end of the spectrum disagree with your opinion and have made their requirements/preferences for a 4 year degree or higher rather clear.

Let's hope you don't need to look up your own date of hire.
