Human Resources will tell you they are hiring as the result of "increased aircraft utilization" starting next spring. My guess is it has more to do with potential flow ups to Delta as well as new work/rest rules currently in legislation. No talk of adding new aircraft/exercising options on existing orders.....

We're trying to figure it out too.

Default Merger?

I have heard from an FAA guy that some Delta connection carriers are going to merge (i.e. Compass and Mesaba)? I could see a merger with those two could be mainlines way to cancel the flow-through contracts.
Any thoughts...

Compass and Mesaba totally merging...

Doubt it! Since it is two different fleets.

Mesaba and Comair is much more likely.

THe one possibility is to have one managing group or hr or something along that line to lower costs with Compass and Mesaba since they are in MSP now. Maybe it would be something kinda like Skywest and ASA but I dont know how those are managed or run.

Furloughed and I've filled out the online application twice this year. Never heard a peep. 16,000TT, 12,000PIC, 6000 turbojet. Any suggestions how to get their attention?

Man I wish I could tell you. It seems really random. I put the application in they called like a week later, interview and boom class date in 24 hrs. I don't know anybody or anything. I start tomorrow I will ask if they are looking for somthing special. Given you have better qualifications than me I would guess its more random selection going on. I have other friends that are intrested as well and can't get a call. does anyone know what they are looking for in an applicant?

Sounds like you are a well rounded experienced applicant!

......but why do you want to go fly as an FO for $24 an hour?

I don't have any special information, but based on the folks I interviewed with and my own qualifications, they seem to be looking for people with internal recs. and relatively low time (must have ATP mins). My guess is they would prefer not to hire someone that will have the time to leave and go to a major, etc. as soon as they start hiring again.

Again, I don't have any specific information, this is just my honest opinion and it all doesn't even make sense to me. If you have any questions, PM me.

No one wants to hire a furloughed pilot, on the premise they will just pick up and leave once recalled, or go to another major should hiring resume.
They want you young and hungry to stay there for awhile, and unable to jump ship too soon.

Plus, you may have a bad attitude...."the stench of United on you"...
