Just got this in my EMail from Compass:

"Thank You for interest in in employment with Compass Airlines. We have reviewed your information and have carefully considered your qualifications for the First Officer position. Pleae be advised that we will be considering more competitive candidates at this time.
We appreciate your interest in Compass Airlines and wish you the best of luck in your job search."

LMAO. Three type ratings, 7000 hours total time; 5600 Turbine; 500 PIC 121; College Degree; Currently a Check Pilot with with FAA Designated Type-Check Authority; Numerous well-written and sincere letters to HR expressing my interest in Compass; Travel to two job fairs and an internal recommendation from someone rather high in the food chain.
Not even an offer to interview...

Thanks for the kick in the teeth. Just what I needed.

FWIW....I also heard the stuff about Republic and, in particular Mesa, undercutting Compass bids at the 11th hour straight from the DO. Not saying I want the flying, that flying belongs at Envoy, just saying what I heard. But our "Great Leader" MW did say we are actively bidding on flying......he also said we generally come in 5% higher than Skywest or Republic. Don't forget that Skywest has what 100? 150? ERJ's orders/options. And now that they have a ERJ program, getting more is easy. I had not heard anything about larger planes...just the usual urban legends around the line. The fact that anyone in any management position talked about bidding on flying before it's a done deal is unusual.....ulterior motives definitely possible whether that's attracting more qualified pilots or keeping dispatchers. As to the question of what's in it for dispatchers if we get more planes? I suppose the same thing as for the pilots....more jobs and more job security.

And wow, I work here and I feel under-qualified after reading this.....Honestly I think they use blindfolds and darts when they pick pilots to interview.

Who is in the know...all of your comments are pure speculation and fallacy. Not unlike any other rumor at ever other company...

Maybe there was something in your background they didn't like. There's more than type ratings and total time involved in pilot selection. Aircraft accidents, driving record, checkride failures, criminal history, employment history (terminations), low GPA, etc. - all are considerations.

Did you make sure to call them "boneheads" in your numerous well-written sincere letters?

Sucks but maybe "more competitive" doesn't mean what you think it does. More competitive may just mean less qualified. This is for a regional job after all and they may prefer candidates who are less likely to bolt after 6 months for something better. Not saying that's your intention, but your qualifications are better suited for that than your average first year regional FO. Food for thought.

No.

Everyone "in the know" said that CPZ bid on the flying and they were optimistic - that's all that was said.

I would agree with this 100%.

Very Funny Karl....

FWIW..no accidents on my record. As best as I can determine, I have never been arrested. In 35 years of working, I have never been terminated; and yes, one failed checkride out of over 45 total checkrides taken- BFD.

Good for you that at least one of us is perfect.

Attitude is a huge part as well as being well rounded, hours and types are not the only thing these days. Compass is huge on GPA, they wouldn't even interview me until mine was updated. How was yours? There must have been something about your app that you're forgetting or in denial about. Plus I am willing to bet someone noticed your bonehead comment. Many places browse their forums I hear. Who knows what it was. All you can do is move on.

What the Mustache said. Klondike, sorry to hear that you haven't (yet) received an invite to interview. That being said, if you're going to belittle our current pilots (such as your remarks to MARX), maybe it's for the better that you pursue other opportunities more in line with your experience and life situation. Compass is a pilot group consisting of everything from 1,501 hour CFI's to 20+ year ex-widebody captains. Just because you're not new to 121 ops and have some flight time doesn't make you special or different.

I wish you luck in the future but basing on the tone of your posts, I really don't believe that you would have fit in here too well. Attitude is well checked at the door at this company.
