Any recent stories of guys getting called without any 121 time. I'm currently a cfi with a beechjet gig. Still have about a year left on my contract though.

Does anyone know when does the one year training bond kick in? Is it when you attend orientation or when you finish IOE? And does anyone know if it's enforceable if you live in California- I've read some people say it's not enforceable in certain states?

Also, as for enforceability, I really don't know how they can fully enforce it. I mean how many people have 10,000 to 12,000 bucks lying around that they can pay back to Compass within a month of leaving Compass. That is close to half of your salary for the entire 1st year. They would have to work out some kind of payment plan I suppose.

The training contract or bond begins after you pass your checkride (Last Simulator event).

Don't sign it if you dont intend to honor your commitment then. If you do leave before the contract is up, then you should fully expect to pay. If you don't like the training contract then don't come to compass.
Since when has doing the right thing and honoring your commitment become optional or valid only when in your best interests.

Its just a scare tactic for the airline to keep cheap labor from moving on to better opportunities. Do any of the legacy carries make you sign training contracts?

Except that these training contracts are technically indentured servitude. Training contracts have been fought in courts by pilots and they have won. There was a pretty high profile case at ASA awhile back from what I've heard.

Hey I'm just saying it as it is. Pay or not pay, everyone should know their legal rights. Personally, since I had multiple letters of rec when I got on at Compass, I feel like if I left within the first year and didn't re pay that I would be undermining those that helped me get the job. So for me it would be a personal thing and I would feel obligated to pay.
