Took about three weeks for a call?!?
Not furloughed yet, but the latest displacement and furlough letters aren't out yet either. I am at the all time fastest sinking ship out there and dont want to wait for it all to go down.
We'll see what happens1

Congrats to those who've been called - I have had my app in for longer than I care to admit and have several internal recs... Nothing yet. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed, though!!!

To anyone that interviewed recently, did you cab it from the Hyatt Airport to the Pan Am Academy for the interview or will the hotel van take you there? If a taxi is the only option, how much was the fare(s)? Thank you for the help and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Make a living...
Can anyone tell me, is it possible to make a living on a regional paycheck? I have a family to take care of. I am a 135 guy and don't know diddly about 121. I would like to make the switch, but $24/hr? How does that translate into a livable income? I am serious. I have no idea.
What are your expenses?
For the first 30 days you will get paid around $400 for your home study 'course'. Does that cover your expenses? If they don't I am sure you're fine with helping the airline out and draw a few dollars from your savings account.
While in training you're paid 75hr guarantee at $24 an hour. That totals up to $1800 per tax. Subtract for a place to stay while in MSP. Company will not cover any housing expenses during the 4-6 weeks.
After training you can expect to fly 20-50 hrs a month per month while on reserve. Your monthly guarantee is 75 hrs so $1800 per month pre tax. I don't include the per diem that you'll get for the trips you fly since you have to eat a little while you're flying those trips.
Does that cover your expenses...
You could also look at it this way. You get to fly a nice jet airplane for near minimum wage, and if you commute, be away from your spouse and kids for about 20 days per month while on reserve.

That is the hotel that crews from MEM and DTW stay during recurrent. The shuttle takes you to the training facility.

Just to give you a little perspective, I'll share with you what a paycheck looks like. My check on the 27th of every month consists of half of my monthly guarantee--37.5 hours. This check is always $645.00 net.
My check on the 13th of every month consists of the other half of guarantee plus what ever I flew above guarantee plus per diem minus health/dental benefits. I am single. This check averages $1400.00 net.
I figure that second year pay should average an additional $800.00/month net. Keep in mind that second year pay at Compass does not work like most airlines. It starts one year AFTER the first person from your class finishes IOE as opposed to most airlines where it starts one year after your date of hire. In my case, I will see my first second year check 16 months after my date of hire.
Good luck with your decision. PM me with any other questions.

I feel ya man. I've had stuff in there for awhile, with internal recs. fltops job fair visits. Haven't heard a peep. I'm certainly not high time like other applicants but I have the mins. I figure they're on Thanksgiving break for the week now. I guess we should enjoy the turkey tomorrow. This is the first Turkey Day I've had off for a while now.
