I have very similar quals as did one of my friends, the only difference between him and I getting the interview was I had a four year and he did not...

It is not required, but highly preferred. I would think you would need to know someone important to get hired without it or have some outstanding qualifications.

Meh. I need to hurry up and finish mine. I only have a handful of classes to complete. I wonder if prior military experience helps balance things out? (4 yrs enlisted Navy engineer)

There is a chance they see you as "too qualified..." IE they hire you and you leave 6 months later for a mainline or LCC position...

No idea if that is accurate and just a shot in the dark...
