Compass updates
#2241
Does anyone know where I can find a current copy of the Compass contract? I have looked for one and cannot seem to find one on the internet.
More specifically, I am trying to find the exact pay rates for both FOs and CAs for years 1-5. I am trying to figure out how much of a paycut it will actually be to make the move to Compass, and how long it would be to recover the pay difference. If anyone can post those pay rates, thank you in advance for taking the time to do that.
I am looking forward to starting at Compass next month. Thanks again for the help!

Current fo rates: 24.91/36.19/38.50/40.07/41.10
Current ca rates: 64.92/67.07/69.34/71.48/73.66
You'll likely credit 75 hrs/mo on rsv and line holders can bid up to 95hrs. With the planned attrition i would expect an upgrade after 24 months, less if the airline grows.

Keep in mind the rates are likely to change with our new contract which will be in place next year.

You actually think there is a reasonable chance for me to upgrade in 24 months? I mean, i have not even started yet, and wont until early september! Hope your right, I just had no idea that thy were planning on that kind of attrition within 2 years at compass. not expecting it, but like I said, I hope you are right. When i was running my numbers on pay, I assumed an upgrade sometime in year 4. Who knows

Maybe I do need to learn the Flica swap/drop system better or how to bid better on PBS. I have had the 4 day off thing screw me a few times already. Also in regards to reserve, ask the Captains who commute to reserve if they like how the system works. Most have them have told me they would rather be able to bid for reserve periods. They only help out FOs right now with commutable RAP periods because they are fat on FOs. I live at base so its not a huge concern but I would still like to have some control on to my reserve period.
To me starting on a latest rap period on day 1 and ending on the earliest rap period on the last day is a potential recipe for fatigue. I would rather see a consistent rap period every day. Maybe thats just me I guess.
Not trying to turn the thread into a ***** fest at all. There is always room for improvement. I will agree the 9E FOs here at Compass generally seem happier than at 9E. I think a lot of us are still bitter over the whole 9E debacle. Some of us were there for over 5 years without even getting close to upgrade and now starting over on 1st year pay at another regional. But we all made that choice and were not forced into it, we wouldn’t be at Compass if we didn’t think it was a better opportunity. Anyways I'll stop posting now because apparently 6 months at an airline doesn’t earn you enough stripes to voice opinion on an internet forum.

I was at Comair for over 5 years, been here for 3. So 8 years as an FO. 9e doesn't have the market cornered on getting jammed.

Is Jami King still a good point of contact for recruitment? I met her at a job fair back in January and would like to touch base with her. Thanks

She still works in HR but not sure of her level of involvement with hiring. She's a very nice person, though, and it couldn't hurt to give her a ring

For those of you recently hired- What did you have for time, and did you have an internal recommendation?
I have 3600 TT, 1000 turbine PIC and have heard nothing yet. Applied about a month ago.

Reserve
Anyone know how long a new hire could expect to be on reserve?

The flow will take 25% of the seniority list every year for the next 3 years. 2 years attrition due to flow puts today's new-hire half way up the seniority list (junior CA seniority). That's just flow, keep in mind that there will be additional hiring due to attrition to other airlines, and some increased staffing due to the new rest rules. If things move along as planned, a 2 year upgrade at Compass is a mathematical certainty. If the airline experiences any growth, the upgrade time could be lower than 18 months, but that's being VERY optimistic. Anyone hired at Compass over the next 2 years will not spend much time in the right seat.
