Maybe because alot of people live in DTW or MSP ( most people these days in the pool seem to be 9E) and most likely CP is going to be their 2nd regional....or 3rd. Why not wait for something good at home, rather than commute to yet another regional. I know it doesnt make sense because only things that happen fast are good, right?

Last I heard is last class scheduled 1st week Feb for now. Rumors of more classes later Feb and March but nothing official. Not sure if interviews are still going. I would imagine the pool is almost overflowing now, especially since they filled it so large in anticpation of Delta flows (none of which are coming anytime soon). Expect to wait a looooonnnggg time for a class date if you are deep in the pool right now, or in line for an interview

From the Jan 2013 ALPA Mag:
Is he serious?!
Compass is one of the top performers in Delta system, operating Embraer aircraft of similar size and flying routes similar to those once flown by Northwest's Douglas DC-9's.
"It's a stretch to call us a 'regional' carrier, because like many of the fee-for-departure airlines, we are doing everything the mainline does-we fly internationally and transcontinentally using mainline-gauge aircraft, doing everything the DC-9's used to do," says Dan Schultz, Compass MEC Chairman
