Well I am sure you guys know COMPASS is owned by TRANS STATES. TSA has been downsizing for ever it seems. I have worked with several folks who have family or friends at TSA. After AA downsized in STL they got the UA contract via GO JET. So TSA Holding I think that is the corp name owns, TSA, Compass and Go Jet. If I was looking for a job I would shoot for a stronger company and stay away from TSA and its subsidaries. I see also there are posings for Republic. Another company that is faltering BIG TIME.
There isn't one.
The one thing about Compass that I have noticed since I have been here:
No one I have talked to is deluded into thinking that this place is "The Last Stop" in their career. Far different mindset than my last gig was and this place is hell of a lot more fun place to work.
I wouldn't say any of the other regional companies are real secure, especially ones with large 50 seater fleets.

Whats happening at Compass these days?
-Still conducting interviews? (last I heard was they were going to be running classes through August)
-Are they any closer to resuming type ratings for new hires?
-Any rumors of finding additional airplanes, or any other fun rumors floating around?
Thank you

Also, how commutable are the scheds out of MSP (reserve and lines) from the west coast? In general, is it possible to commute in for duty on the same day or make it home without spending an extra night? Thank you

I commute from PDX (MSP based) and have found that only about 8% of all trips are commutable on front end (following the 2 flight commuter clause). Most are commutable on the last day especially in summer when delta runs a 9:50pm. I bid 70% down the list and generally have maybe 1 trip a month commutable on both ends. For reserve kinda the same, normal is going out day before and commutable home at end.

Thnak you for the info, that is kind of what I was expecting. If you dont mind me asking, have you (or anyone else) had any luck droping trips or swapping with others to make things a bit more commuter friendly? Also, I understand minimum days off are 11 days, but what are you averaging? Are the days off bunched together or scattered throughout the month? Thank you for the help!
Min days off is 11, and that's what reserve will get. You'll get at least one stretch of 4 days in a row, and no single days off, per the contract. Junior lineholders seem to get at least 13-14... but then again it all depends on what the person is bidding and how much flying the company is forcing on us (lately most have been forced to have at least 90 hours of credit for the month).

Hello everyone. I'm sure its been asked multiple times, but what are the best resources to use to study for the job knowledge test and were there any subjects out of the ordinary to look over? Thanks.

Does Compass require the ATP written be current. I work for a 121 carrier now, but my written is expired. Do I need to retake it? Or will they hire you with the expired one?
