A verbal promise from the Director of Training and $5 will get you a coffee at starbucks. I certainly hope our MEC isn't accepting this as compliance with the provisions of the contract. Just because the FAA isn't letting the company type newhires concurrently with the newhire course doesn't exempt the company from the requirement to type newhires. There are other means available.

We were told today in class that Delta needs the additional capacity in the 70 - 80 seat market, and is "actively pursuing" other options for 6 more E170/175s for CPS. Why the E175 over the CR9? I have no idea...I'll believe it when I see the signed contract, but it sounds promising. Regardless, we will be actively hiring through the end of the year...unless of course oil hits $175 / barrel, a world war breaks out, the economy tanks again, or aliens attack...u never know Expect the unexpected, but don't plan around it!
If this is true, this is horrible news.

Well, I agree, but until the scope is maxed out they are going to continue to pursue maxing it out. It is unfortunate -- profits suffer, the customer suffers, you know the list.

It is probably why 6 DC-9 retirements have been postponed.

Whats happening at Compass these days?
-Still conducting interviews? (last I heard was they were going to be running classes through August)
-Are they any closer to resuming type ratings for new hires?
-Any rumors of finding additional airplanes, or any other fun rumors floating around?

Thank you

I got the call a couple of days ago for a June 2 interview in MSP. I believe she said that there are 2 classes scheduled in the books right now and then once those are full they will hire for a small pool but the pools tend to empty out pretty fast according to her. I'm excited and nervous at the same time since I hear the interview is pretty tough.

It sounds worse than it is. The job knowledge test and face to face is what to focus on. The job knowledge test is an easier version of the Delta test. Read "mental math for pilots". I also think the aerodynamics chapter from "ace the technical pilot interview" was helpful. I studied the delta gouge and those two books. 60 questions and it took 25 to 30 mins (you get 60).

The face to face was similar to the Delta gouge. In fact, I had a friend interview at Big D and we were both asked some of the exact same scenario questions.

Well I am sure you guys know COMPASS is owned by TRANS STATES. TSA has been downsizing for ever it seems. I have worked with several folks who have family or friends at TSA. After AA downsized in STL they got the UA contract via GO JET. So TSA Holding I think that is the corp name owns, TSA, Compass and Go Jet. If I was looking for a job I would shoot for a stronger company and stay away from TSA and its subsidaries. I see also there are posings for Republic. Another company that is faltering BIG TIME.

And you know that a business can be bought or sold at any time. If you're so worried about who the management/owners of a business are, self-employment may be your best option.

Plus, CPZ is adding 6 more airplanes. Not downsizing.
