Do you have jet time? Glass time? Part 121 time?

These are all required now to be competitive. It could change in the future but right now that's the situation.

I have Glass time in GA plane; I guess I need to get some Jet and 121 time at another regional. Thank you for your input!

Being a reserve captain I get to fly with the guys and girls gust coming out of training. What I am seeing is a lot of folks with years at other regionals such as Horizon, Freedom, Trans States and Comair. Most of these people have at least 2000 121 time. Keep trying though. The pool of these people will dry up quickly with the other airlines that are hiring.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm planning to wait until the end of Dec/early Jan before I apply to a few of other regionals; should have U.S. citizenship/passport by then. I've waited 12 years for a regional job, what's another few months. Thanks for the info.

Yep that's exactly right......i had the pleasure of meeting, shaking hands with and handing in my resume to E.M., the chief pilot......at the fltops job fair in Atlanta back in August. He saw that i had plenty of jet time, but he asked me how much glass time i had. Since i fly 30 series Lears, he was a bit concerned about the lack of or insufficient glass experience.....which is correct. He did not seem particularly concerned with the lack of 121 time......since all my jet time thus far is 135 time......but i could tell that he would have preferred that i had atleast some 121 experience. And it didn't seem to help much that i have just over 500 hrs as Kapitaan on the Lear!.....atleast he wasn't impressed.....and why should he be!?!

Anyways.....so until Compass CAN NOT afford to be so picky (if and when that day ever comes), they are going to be subtle sticklers for all 3 (or at the very least a combination of any 2)......jet time, glass time, & 121 time. Good luck guys!

Don't be too disappointed if you end up waiting longer than Jan. But i do wish you the best.

Hoo boy, do you have that one right. Once anyone else starts hiring/recalling, this place is going to clear out like someone fired off a chili fart.

Hi!

Last few days heard Centurion will be hiring full tilt in Nov. Spirit just ran through ALL of it's furloughees and will be hiring as soon as the 34 out of 115 returning furloughees are retrained. Atlas sounds like it will hire a lot next year. Centurion is planning on adding 747-400s, as is Evergreen, World, National and Kalitta. Southern is adding -777s. American is recalling. SWA/FedEx/JetBlue/AirTran will be hiring soon. I think CAL/UAL will hire as soon as their merger is organized.
