BDF, this thread, while possibly allowing you to vent has gotten a little out of control. A couple of questions I have. 1) Was JK the on call pilot? 2) Did you follow the proper protocol? If the answer to these 2 questions is yes then I think that you should ask for a sit down with JK and hash it out as the professional that I know that you are. If however the answer to either of the questions is no and it was not an emergency that needed the input of the Certificate Chief Pilot, then perhaps you were out of line. If you did not follow protocol, called me on a holiday and I was with my children, I would have hung up on you also. I suspect that if you were in the same situation you may have reacted the same way. Furthermore, depending on the circumstances, if I was to see this discussion on a public web board I would probably have you in for a visit to explain yourself. It's not like he doesn't know who you are. Hopefully JK is more mature and patient than I am. When you personalize the thread like you have, you have gone over the the line. How would you feel toward a pilot that worked under you and behaved this way on a web board? There have been some good suggestions given above such as contacting you LEC rep or JF the professional standards rep. I no longer work at Compass but when I was there one of the very bright spots was the people. You paint a picture of a horrible place to work and give the impression that everything sucks. Afterall, it is a regional airline. I hope things work out ok for you.

Not picking on you maxjet, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but why does working for a regional mean the job has to be ****ty? I just don't understand that mentality. We should all be striving to make our respective airline a great place to work instead of accepting the way things are because it's "just a regional".

With the shrinking, elimination, and/or consolidation of mainline workforces, regional airlines are now offering lifelong careers. That means they need to be brought up to the quality (if not the pay-they are b scales) of lifelong careers.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the pay come up, too. I just value the quality more- lack of quality is what shaves years off your lifespan.

On top of that, the chain of command exists so that problems can be dealt with at the lowest possible level. By bypassing the chain of command, you are disrespecting all of those whom you bypassed, as well as the Chief. Going directly to the top is not the proper protocol unless the urgency of the situation requires it.

If I have implied that I think this way you are mistaken. I just don't understand how going on a web board and being inflamatory helps in that process. At one time I worked at Mesa. One of the biggest problems besides management was the negative attitude of the pilot groups of the other airlines. It became self fulfilling. If you continue to think negatively, things will usually turn out negatively. That being said, regional airlines are regional airlines. If they paid you the same rate per seat as main line there would be no need for you to exist. The company that employs you must pay you what they pay you and then charge enough for your services to the mainline to make a profit. In doing so they still have to come in at less than it would cost the major to do it. Regionals can be a nice place to work and most offer a great quality of life but the pay and benefits will never be mainline.
guys chat on the compass website... no need to hang our laundry here..
From reading the thread i believe both had some fault but JK should have reacted as a professional and asked the pilot to call the duty pilot. or just not answer his company sell at all.
