I concur! And the fact that its only abnormal 1% of the time is all the more the reason that the compensation should be better.

Everyone has their own brand of suffering. Our jobs pay just enough to keep the help around for one more day.
The same can be said for other jobs. I LOVE how some pilots act like we are the ONLY ones who spend lots of time on the road.

And I think I speak for most others at XJ as well. And are we all so childish that NWA guys have to act like you just called their mother a ^&*$% if you slip up and call the 900 a 9? Who cares...call it what you want.
Funny thing is you reinforce the stereotype of low-time XJ 900 FOs by having the callsign "tinpusher007" on here, delineating that you're a "-900 FO" (how many others on here have to denote they're on the -900), and also by saying you're "not envious of the DC-9"...you know, cuz it don't have all that glass and you'd get your arse handed to you flying radials and doing level offs in a jet....and no, it's not childish for NWA guys to get all bent out of shape about it when a guy calls it a "9" b/c anyone at NWA has loads more experience than a new hire at a regional, and their bankruptcy/furlough made it possible for you to have those planes to fly...so yeah, they might get a little upset about someone calling it a -9...it's within their rights as industry veterans...

Don't worry, it's not just us poking fun at -900 XJ guys, I've given lots of crap to new hires at 9E bragging about going to the -900 and how much better of an airplane it is...I understand you guys don't have a choice in what you fly, so I won't give you anymore crap bout it...

I think a lot of Mesaba pilots call it the 9 (at least I'm not the only one). I heard a XJ CRJ200 exiting the runway the other day and ground told them pass behind the CRJ900. The response was " Pass behind the 9".

CRJ900 = the new "9"

I really don't see the issue with calling in the 9, since most the DC9's are getting retired.

the pilot should have said "900" so ground wouldn't be confused in thinking the pilot was to pass behind an actual dc9 instead. also, calling it the "9" is just ridiculous.

That's because all you do is post flamebait. Calling the CRJ900 the new -9=FLAMEBAIT. You couldn't hack it the DC9 either, just like the SAAB. And their are still 60+ DC9s that AREN'T being parked, so calling the CRJ900 the 9 isn't going to work. You might actually end up with bent metal if you do that.
