Is your buddy prone to complaining? There has been some junior manning because we are understaffed, but I have yet to hear a credible account of the contract being intentionally violated. Compass has some pilots who aren't comfortable unless they are complaining.

So, $24 an hour, 37.5 hours of pay in two weeks, so $900 every two weeks. Take 20% (state and federal) out for taxes, down to $720 net. Subtract another $65 or so for medical, dental, etc, and one is off to making approximately $650 a every two weeks. Not much pay for flying a 30 million dollar aircraft with 76 seats. Being that former regional pilots are standing in line for this job, that would mean this is not the first time some have taken home $325 a week in pay...

Being that unemployment pays up to $439/ week without dependants, one has to ask themselves, why am I working for almost next to nothing? Funny thing is, there are people standing in line. If this is your third time at the bottom of a regional, you may want to really sit down and think this one through...

Hi.

Unemployment in WI and MI is not dependent on the number of dependents.

MAX in MI is $365? and WI, $355?

Compass is WAY better than unemployment. Maybe Great Lakes is not.

MI MAX is $362. NJ max is in the neighborhood of $560? Still trying to work out the logistics of switching it over. But at least MI finally paid up!!!
In MI you get $5 per dependent, but the MAX you will get is the $362.

Wow! You guys have it good. Try $240 for unemployment in AZ. And that's before they take out taxes. Ends up being just over $200/wk after there done with you.

$275.00 in FL.......and even if it was $400, I'd rather be flying. Beats the hell out "hanging out" everyday at home with "the wife".

Well, I guess it also depends if you think you will get called back to that last job anytime soon...remember that many of those drawing a check will Never be going back as there is not a company to go back too. I'm also pretty sure you can't draw that check for ever. Those working at Compass still have their old seniority numbers but if 2 years pass while waiting and that unemployment check drys up they will be making 35 an hour at least.

I have flown with a couple guys that just can't manage to stop B1tching long enough to handle the radio calls. However 95% of the ppl I work with at Compass appreciate their job. Of course its those other 5% that can make a 2 day feel like a week.
Please remember that appreciating a job is different than not aspiring to amke more money with more days off. I somehow doubt that sitting at home for the next 12 months is going to make you more money however and it will surely not make you more marketable for that next job.

As far as the hiring goes those last 6 ppl will receive their CBT's on the 23rd.

Extreme, I am sure everything feels cozy over there in the left seat, making the big $60 an hour flying a 76 seat jet, 1/3 of what a DC-9-10 Captain used to make, 1/3 of what an Embraer Lineage corporate captain makes (flying 4X as much too). My entire point is that there are people "lined up" to make less than a cable car operator in SFO. Here are a list of jobs that pay over $20 an hour, and 160+ hours a month. At an airline, you have to cut the hourly rate in half to truly contrast the earnings to other occupations.

Ten jobs that pay $20 an hour - CNN.com

With Delta restricted to 255 76 seat jets, unlimited 50 seat jets (in contrast to AMR's 25 70 seat jets) and a new codeshare on the left coast with Alaska, it will be a very, long, long time before anyone at Compass flows anywhere. I just wonder if you'll be as happy and proud of Compass when one of my peers pushes you to the other seat for say, 6 years and you are stuck in the doldrums of $30 an hour ($15 an hour actual) for that duration. Will you be as appreciative having a type, PIC turbine, college education and making less than a McDonalds manager?

I would avoid Compass at all costs, that thing is sinking ship for an FO. Again, still FO's lined up to fly the big shiny jet, still borrowing more money from mom and dad to eat.

I had a period after I was furloughed where I had to depend on my parents again, luckily I'm young and single so that helped. It's incredibly morally draining, the fact that you spent so much time trying to get to a position on to be furloughed and back to the parents. The worst part is having to deal with the guys who have already HAVE A JOB that constantly judge on someones decisions of where you find a job or decide to go. It's very easy for someone who is employed, even if they're at a bottom of some list, to look down and suggest to someone to become a McDonalds manager instead of pursuing flying even if it's low pay or whatever because they aren't making that decision. If you don't like Compass fine, don't ruin it for others. It is what it is, you are not going to change pay rates anytime soon.
