Wrong, NWA just signed an LOA with MGMT that stated there will be NO FURLOUGHS as a result of the capacity reductions. FWIW
Exact verbage,
“ No involuntary, out-of-category, displacements or layoffs will occur as a result of the 2008 fall schedule reduction. Involuntary, out-of-category, displacements previously published for October 2008 will, at pilot option, be reversed. A pilot previously identified to be displaced for October 2008 will be contacted to elect whether he wishes to remain in his position or to be displaced. A pilot electing displacement shall retain the attendant 24.E.10. recall rights to which he is entitled in the Agreement.”

All of this still may not be enough. They actually have to have people take the leaves as well. If things continue there may be be things down the line that cant be predicted right now that can help or hurt the industry more. I am just sitting and watching I have NO control on my future unless I quit now.

Last I heard they hired guys with less than 1k ME when they had trouble finding someone. That has ended, but give it a shot, and good luck.

Are you the type of person who gets mad when you ask a question and someone gives you an answer you don't like? If you are, maybe you should consider flight instructing a little longer.
You asked about class breakdown. After a discussion with the Compass Pilot Recruiting Manager I can guarantee you that there is no one with less than 1000ME in those classes, and there wont be until they change the posted minimum.
If you want a job there it's a great idea to apply before meeting the minimums, it at least shows them that you're interested. I do wish you good luck, I was just letting you know what you're up against.

To start with, the training contract specifically states that it commences when the pilot is signed off at the end of LOE. That means you get the type rating but there is no effective contract until the end of OE. That is the way THE COMPANY wrote the contract. That is the way they want it. I am a firm believer that both parties should live with the contract that they sign. But the company should have no complaints if someone leaves before completing OE.
If someone goes to Compass just to get the type rating and leave before doing LOE, that would seem disingenuous to me. I think it is clearly understood by all that if you take the job, you do it because you want the job. But if another job comes along that you want more before you have completed training, there is no requirement to pass it up and stay at CP.
I keep hearing people say "the training contracts are not enforceable". To that I say, "so what?" What does that have to do with it? If you sign your name to a training contract, aren't you obligated to live by your word? Are you so dishonest that your WORD (not to mention signature) is worth nothing?
But when a company chooses to employ a written contract instead of gentleman's verbal agreement, then one need not feel guilty about living by the letter of the contract even if it means quitting after receiving the type rating but before the end of LOE.

I'd be very surprised if Compass did not have the requirement you ask about.
