I'm not arguing with you; I want a staple job. I simply telling you what management has up their sleeve in terms of stopping scope recapture.
Yes the new delta contract reduces the number of 70 seat RJ's to 255 from the original 290. together delta and NWA currently operate less than 200 of these things, so they can buy more. The career slide still continues......

How many E170s does DAL have flying with Republic and how many 70 seaters does skywest fly for DAL? Just trying to add it up. Also even if there are other 70 seaters allowed up to that 255 the number of 50 seaters that are going to be yanked will far outnumber any new 70 seaters. The shift right now is back to larger mainline aircraft, hence why we are keeping 61 DC9s now instead of 58 like what was announced earlier this year. It appears DAL wants some of the Diesel 9s down in ATL post merger. We'll see. I think the wholly owned regionals are going to fair much better in all this then the others which imho is good because we are keeping the money in house.

I assume you are a new pilot at NWA, trust me NWALPA tried to pull the Mesaba guys onto the list on several occasions. Management has successfully squashed it everytime. Now with the new SLI rules in mergers it makes it even more painful for mainline to recapture scope. You basically would have to give up massive amounts of pay and seniority to get it back.

16 E170's at shuttle, ASA has 37 CRJ700, SKW has 17 CRJ900's, Comair has a mix of 700/900's around 30 I believe. Freedom has 14 900's and the Pinnacle contract was canceled; Then you add the 72 175/900's at XJ and CZ. The new number is the Delta cap at 200 and the NWA lower cap at 55. Wait until the equity pay out happens when the carriers combine, you will see a mass exodus of NWA pilots into retirement when that happens. I donlt think you guys will furlough anyone.

I certainly wouldn't mind. Being at the bottom sucks, but I have 37 more years to put in to this biz....more than enough time to move up....theoretically But to never have to interview again would be fine by me.

As an example as to why this is only theoretical. I was jumpseating on a Frontier flight when the captain told us that he was 57. He had worked at 8 different airlines had been at Frontier 11 years and didn't know what he was going to do when Frontier finally when TU. The days at working at one company your whole career are long gone. I'd say your best bet if that is your plan is to get on at SW ASAP.

Yikes. Even if getting stapled meant I got displaced off of the left seat and had to fly the E175 from the right seat...I'd be making almost as much as an FO as I am now as a CA. Add in DL work rules, benefits, etc....
Yeah, a guy can dream.
