I'm increasingly convinced that most if not all of us at Compass will be out of a job within the year. That'd be a whole lot easier to take if there's a mainline seniority number to come back to. Otherwise it's all too easy to have CPS inundated by flowbacks and then lose the flow-*through* in the merger. Very similar to what happened at Eagle...flowthrough only lasted long enough for mainline to flow back and the Eagle guys never saw any benefit.

You can be stapled voluntarily. If you preferred to fight for an actual integration then I feel pretty safe in saying that mainline pilots would just forgo a seniority integration and keep things as they currently are.

I might have misunderstood you. Are you under the impression that you will be integrated into the mainline seniority list (vs starting at the bottom like everyone else) if you were to be offered the chance to pick up a mainline number?

thats what he suggested but you can guarantee that would never happen. Look at the seniority issues involved with NWA/DAL integrating could you imagine if a regional demanded integration with a major

I agree, I don't think that will ever get off the ground.

Mesabah, maybe I missed something (happens all the time), but since when has a regional pilot group been in a position to demand seniority list integration with the mainline?????

Shouldn't happen, in my opinion.

Regionals work for mainline.

Compass pilots would be glad to take a pure-and-simple staple, IMHO.
So would the junior Mesaba guys.
It's the Mesaba lifers that pose a problem. I could just see some 20 year Saab CA demanding DOH...that'll go over great with the NW guys!

So JungleBus,

Is the consensus at Compass that a NWA furlough is likely? I've got a class date coming up with Compass and I'm at another regional right now with 500 people below me. We have money problems and are inevitably going to park 30-70 planes in the next year but the place treats the employees pretty well overall. Also, we're tied to a financially strong legacy compared to some of the ones that people think are going to go under. I need to make a decision pretty soon about Compass; things changed for the better a little at my current company just as I interviewed.

What think you? Any other CPZ pilot on here have an opinion?

From what it looks like there wont be furloughs because of the new planes we have coming to both DAL and NWA and supposedly the hiring that was done was already taking the cuts into consideration(which is why they stopped hiring). Its always subject to change but I dont think the compass guys have anything to worry about. It would be very expensive for NWA to furlough and retrain everyone at compass and furlough compass guys. DAL is in cash save mode and its probably cheaper to keep the newhires here since we are on 1st year pay then to furlough us and pay us more. Also they are trying to make it look good for the DOJ so thats another incentive not to furlough. It all could change tomorrow but right now i dont see furloughs at NWA. We shall see.
