Tell me about Compass..
I'm thinking of taking an interview offer with Compass. I've recently lost my job and so I'm looking for something with stability, medical insurance, and some kind of QOL.
I'm told upgrade is with in a year and a half, is this true?
How are the working conditions?
Are you treated like red headed stepchildren by the NWA MEC?
How will the DAL merger affect you (prediction?)
Anything else you want to add..
Thanks
CE

I might not be of much help but I'll give it a shot:
Not sure... right now upgrade revolves around our current delivery schedule and your seniority. By Dec, 36 airplanes+360 pilots=about 180CA/180FO. Counting management pilots and attrition, anyone under about #190-200 should upgrade in Dec08/Jan09. After that it's pure attrition, I'm guessing a few a month max, unless we are awarded any of the other 18 options (could be us or XJ or both or neither). I think right now we're up to about 230-240 or so pilots, so only time will tell.
Haven't been here long, but from what I've seen so far, pretty good. The people here are great! Management treats us well and everyone seems pretty happy and friendly. Lots of diverse experience and a lot of talent. I think the good general attitude of this company and it's employees is one of our strongest suits.
Again, haven't been here long, but from my personal experiences so far, NW pilots have acted professional and courteous. I've politely asked for a NW jumpseat home/to work on three occasions (DC-9's and A320's no less) and have been granted them each time, along with the usual small talk with the crew. They may have very well b1tched and grumbled about it after the cockpit door shut, but in public and in my presence they maintained their professionalism. Kudos to to the NWA guys!
(On a side note, Compass is under the NWA MEC - I'm still a little confused myself as to the exact logistics, but we're just another LEC under NWA's MEC.)
Myself and the world wonders with you....
Hopefully because of our cost structure/performance/newer fleet, the wholly-owned NW groups (CP,XJ) will fare well. But who knows?
If you'd like any more info PM me and I'll do what I can.
Good luck with your search!

thanks Matlok, so it seems to me that the aircraft order is small and finite.. therefore anyone hired now (I believe you've already got 225 or so) is an FO for as long as it takes to have guys leave thru attrition. This isn't good.. I don't think I can make it on $24/hr for more than 6 mo to a year MAX..
Hmm...

off topic....not trying to hijack....Matlok...what the hell is with your avatar????? ive been wondering for a while...lol
We had a few Awac Reserve Captains go to Compass just to go back home to the midwest.....these guys were really happy.....upgraded right away. A few guys i talked to in CLT seemed really cool...

Some guys were arguing rather heatedly about something stupid in a thread (on APC?! No way! ) so I posted that pic to break up the monotony. Forgot how I found it, but apparently there's this random Japanese guy that takes pictures of his rabbit with different objects on it's head. Kinda weird yet humorously distracting.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oolong_(rabbit)
Flew with one this last trip - really nice guy... (J.F.?)

I'm also curious if NWA/Delta will keep their order for Bombardier C-Series jets when they hit the market. Supposedly NWA has a big order in for those as well as the 787. Depending on whether they get C110s or C130s, that's a 99-125 seat airplane (mixed class), meaning that could have some affect on the 76-seat RJ flying at both Compass and Mesaba. 2013 isn't as far away as you may think, and the C-Series is supposed to be more efficient than anything we're flying now.

I could see down the road NWA pickin up the C Series to replace the 9's
Ill tell ya one thing....itll be a sad sad day if those airplanes end up at a regional airline.
unless of course they are paying 150 an hour...then its ok
