Tell me about Compass..

Lysol,
The people who were hired without ATP mins get to stay and when they reach ATP mins they go get their ATP. It isn't a company thing - it's an ALPA thing. All new hires must get an ATP with ERJ170/190 type in initial training - even for FOs who don't have a shot at upgrading for a long time.
Our only real experience requirment to get hired here is ATP mins. Multi, instrument, etc. doesn't matter.
After the Part 61 re-write back in the 90s you can't do that anymore. I tried in 2000 but got shot down. It comes from 61.39 (excerpt):
§ 61.39 Prerequisites for practical tests.
(a) Except as provided in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section, to be eligible for a practical test for a certificate or rating issued under this part, an applicant must:
...
(5) Meet the prescribed age requirement of this part for the issuance of the certificate or rating sought;...
[Doc. No. 25910, 62 FR 16298, Apr. 4, 1997; Amdt. 61–103, 62 FR 40897, July 30, 1997, as amended by Amdt. 61–104, 63 FR 20286, Apr. 23, 1998]

Although I agree with all the above posts on most things, I would say in today's environment if you don't have a job I would apply, take any interview you get, and show up to any class offered.....IF you don't currently have a better job with decent seniority you must give up. I use to update my resumes with several mainline carriers even when the weren't hiring at all....Why, because all they can say is no right?

Now, I have an interview scheduled but I havent received any kind of "study" package or anything...
Don't most airlines send you a package of some sort to prepare or stuff they want you know on your interview date?
All I have is some PRIA forms and suppl. docs I have to fill in.
Let me know for those who have interviewed with Compass!
Tx.

Orientation is only one day, I'm local so I'm not sure if they pay for the hotel or not (but I don't think they do). They say that you have to get yourself there also, but I know at least one guy from my class who got them to pay. You can always ask the question, the worst they can say is no.

No... I would suggest using your jumpseat priviliges from your other airline until you get you Compass ID.. You get the ID on the first day. After that they only positive space you to and from YUL.. During the one week training in MSP you are considered to be in base so they dont provide a hotel or positive space to get there.
There are some hotels around the training center that give you a discount...
1. Best Western on YankeeDoodle
2. LaQunita
3. Days in Mall of America
Those are the ones im familiar with that give discounts to crews, im sure there are more...
Hope this help!

I know of someone that slipped though the cracks without ATP mins. The union went crazy when they realized this person was hired with low time. From what I understand, the union is grieving the hiring of those people. Thus, hiring with less than ATP mins have ceased. However, those people have been grandfathered in, and will at some point get their atp. However, for now, their PIC type is on their commerical certificate. I would say apply, from what I've heard if they say no, they refer you to Mesaba who are currently placing people on the CRJ-200/900. Hope this helps.

Would they rather hire someone who could get an ATP eventually but does not have the hours
Or someone who has the hours or surpasses that even, but hasn't has the age requirement yet....
For the Compass interview, if you have your ATP written, do you still take the written test?
